  • Re: Prores RAW support vs Canon Raw & XAVC SI

DNxHD or ProRes type codecs narmally have their 'look' baked in, usually rec. 709, as it were. 'Raw' formats are normally direct information from the sensor and therefore one can adjust things like white balance, iso etc. after the fact. Somewhat analogous to the difference between reversal and negative motion picture film - there is

Doesn't Scratch Play Pro from Assimilate work with all the ProRes raw adjustments on both Mac and PC?

  • Re: Baselight for Avid

I too use both. The safest way is not to roundtrip. That is, if you send an AAF to Resolve then to finish in Resolve, as it has more powerful equivalents to animatte and paint effects. The exception has been AS-11 for UK broadcast delivery, where until recently there has been no option in Resolve. There is now a Mainconcept plugin for 17 and so that

David, I think Jef is absolutely right - it appears from what you say that you are not ultimately responsible for finishing? Therefore this is something the colourist/finishing facility will and can sort. The only mistake as I can see you made is to assume that a DCI-P3 colourspace would give you 'more colours'. It doesn't work like that

  • Re: Export DNxHD from a P3 Project?

David, it's still very confusing - what is your actual delivery specs? You talk of EXR and then DNxHD 709. EXR could be an ACES export format for IMF or DCI DCP or anything and DNxHD is a delivery mastering format for HDTV - so do you have two delivery targets? The whole project should have been maintained in Rec. 709 from what I can see, yet you

  • Re: Is it practical to edit on just one ultrawide monitor?

My home studio is quite narrow, so of necessity I adopted an up and over layout: The laptop 17.3" screen, with bins etc. on the desk and directly above and behind it, the 21" 2nd monitor with source/rec/timeline etc., on the 19" rack shelf (both 1920 x 1080), with the reference monitor directly to the right of that - The Avid keyboard

  • Re: Symphony option worth it?

Adding to what Job has said, I found the Symphony option was worth it (it was a good value at the time, I don't know if it still is). Additionally you get secondary colour correction and there have been some slight updates that include shape based and relational tools. I still use Symphony for quick and dirty and a lot of TV work. However it is

Saludos
