• DNx HD render problem from Resolve

Just made a render in Resolve 18.6. DNx HD 220x 1080i 59.94 mxf Op1a. When linked into Avid 2023.12.0 it shows no TC at all. If I do the same render as mxf Op1 Atom, I get TC. Resolve sees TC in the file it created. Adobe Media Encoder sees TC in this file. Sigh ........ Jef

  • Re: interlaced transcodes to progressive and loses resolution

Converting Interlace to Progressive is difficult to do well, easy to do poorly. The fast, easy way is to repeat one of the fields. As you have seen, this reduces vertical resolution by half. I have not tired to transcode interlact to progressive in Avid but what you are seeing does not surprise me. I see two options for you. First is if you only have

Hello Gero, This sounds as if it might be related to an issue I had with UHD Progressive media being used in an interlaced HD project. Frameflex was doing a horrible job of scaling and converting P to I. My work around was to temporarily change the project to P, mixdown the offending shots after they were scaled, and switch back to I. Avid's response

  • Re: SD output incorrect
Being in the UK I've never had to deal with 30fps or fractional frame rates. If memory serves me well, PAL SD exports at 50i (720x576) were always upper/odd field first, and this is what the UK broadcasters wanted. I was aware that this was different for the US at 29.97, but was this also true at 30fps? Have you
Yeah, SD export is messed up it seems.
That is an under statement!!!
Curiously (and certainly a bug) if you choose to export a "MOV" instead, you LOSE the option to select ProRes as a Codec, and all the framerates are hosed (only progressive rates appear)

  • SD output incorrect

MC ver 2023.12 I have a sequence from the 30i NTSC preset (720x486) 4:3 When I render out a MXF OP1a ProRes file, the result is a file that is 720x496 Top Field first.

  • Re: Speakers click when sound comes back on

Oh well. It was a long shot. Curious, but what type of file are you making that exhibits this behavior? Jef

This is a long shot idea, but try putting a dissolve (from nothing) at the beginning of the sound sections, even 1 or 2 frames. Jef

  • Re: Uprezzing

I have not looked at the new version of Topaz but the first one I did demo had some severe issues that would have made it not practical for broadcast work. Specifically when you uprezed footage, the edges of the image did not totally fill the raster. Created sort of a blanking error issue. Yes, you could blow the resulting image up again, but that is
