  • Re: Audio keyframing - volume only? Or clip gain also?

Yes, only Volume Automation can be keyframed. You can directly enter values in the Audio Mixer. Make sure it's in 'Auto' mode, then click the fader and enter the value on your numeric keypad. The keframe is inserted automatically too :-)

  • Re: Losing color encoding while in trim mode

Hi, Yes - right-click on the Composer window while in trim mode and select 'Trim Mode Render On The Fly. You can also enable this in Trim Mode Settings.

  • Re: No Video Playback

I've had this happen a few times recently with v2021.12 on my Monterey Mac. Although it seems like it's Video that's the problem, it actually appears to be Audio related. If you disable the Audio tracks in the timeline, does it then play? If so, try holding the Alt key as you start the software. Keep hanging on as it runs, and eventually

  • Re: Sync lock issue

Hmm, I'm not sure what to tell you here. I've not seen any instances of Avid enabling tracks all by itself. Any method of getting into Trim I can think of picks up only the nearest edits (plus those which carry linked clips) and turns off all other tracks. I can't find a way to fool it.

  • Re: Sync lock issue

I think you must be doing something wrong. Sync Lock does exactly what you want, adjusting the Filler in duration and not touching the downstream clips. The behavoiur you describe, where the downstream clips get trimmed implies to me that you are not using Sync Lock, but are instead enabling the track selectors of the other tracks. If you leave the

  • Re: Moving an AMA project to a new computer

There may be 'reasons' why some AMA media links and some doesn't. You say you're running the same version Media Composer on the same Mac OS - but do you have the same versions of AMA plugins on both? And additional cause of stress is the issue of UME Vs QuickTime linking. The same 'method' needs to be used by both systems, but

  • Re: Moving an AMA project to a new computer

You shouldn't have massive trouble with this, but you will need to help Avid link the clips up. It's normally sufficient to make a new bin and alt-drag the folders containing media that was previously ama linked into it. Avid should recognise it and update the links in the other bins in the project. There should be no need to replace clips in

  • Re: Copying mediafiles from Mac to PC??

It dependa a bit on how complex the project is, and how you've structured it. Is your media linked or MXF-managed? If linked, copy the media folders to a suitable drive (I'd use an EXFAT formatted drive for Windows compatibility). You may have to re-do the linking process on the PC as the file path to the media will be different. If MXF, how

  • Re: Can My Machine Handle Another Update?

I'd definitely stick with Mojave. 2021.9 runs fine on it, and you get to keep all the goodness of the Title Tool and Marquee if you install the Legacy Components package.

What format/frame size media do you work with? In general, if you're happy with the performance you're getting from v2020, I expect you'll be happy with v2021 also.
