  • Re: What is CM_INVALID_TRIM and why is it quarantining my mediafiles?

I often get this message if I have to rescan a drive with audio precomputes on it. In my case MC seems not to like the precomputes generated by the Time Shift or Time Compression Expansion Audiosuite plugin. Nevertheless, if I click Ignore All, all my audiosuite renders remain online and accessible. I'm sure this isn't Avid-recommended, and

  • Re: Disable Dock Auto-Hiding?

I'm just using the mouse, actually... It seems that Dock Hiding is application-specific, so when it's On in Avid it's actually still Off in Finder. I just found I can make the problem go away by turning it On in Finder also, which I've done, but something's still changed between 2.7.x/Tiger and 3.x/Leopard Thanks, --Evan

  • Disable Dock Auto-Hiding?

In the realm of Avid problems, this one is very minor, but I've become annoyed with MC's insistence on hiding the Finder dock in Leopard. I have all of my Unity workspaces mounted, but when I click in and out of Avid, all the icons rearrange themselves due to the dock hiding and unhiding. Because of this, when I click on a drive, the icons move

  • Including P2 Footage in DI Workflow

Hi- I'm just starting a film that wants to include some 720/24pN footage from an HVX-200 along with our 35mm stuff. Is there a recommended workflow for turning P2 information and media over to a DI house once we're ready to start that process? It doesn't look like any cut list or EDL I make can list the filename of the original P2 file,

  • Re: Marquee - "Save All to Bin" Error

Not sure about that, but there was a time when this feature worked. I used it on a film back in 2006 and it worked as promised, and when on a subsequent film I tried to use it again in th exact same way but on a different version of MC, it no longer worked. I replicated exactly the steps I used the first time, and on the newer version of MC it was a

  • Re: Avid Releases version 3.5 of the Media Composer Software

BLKDOG, Not to make you repeat yourself more than you already have here, but are you sure that you can use another computer attached to the internet to deactivate a license? I just looked through the Avid Software Licensing Training presentation ( http://community.avid.com/forums/post/386854.aspx?cmpid=52 ) and it says in big bold letters that there

  • Re: Pasting audio keyframes from one clip to another

When selecting Change Sample Rate on your master music clips, if you select Delete Original Media (ie trash the 44.1 media files and keep the new 48 only), I think that will do what you want. All of your volume, pan, and keyframe info should remain the same, and the clips in your timeline will switch automatically to the new 48k media files. --Evan

  • Re: EXPORT HELL!!! This should be working!

Try sticking a 16:9 letterbox effect on your top video layer and export that (under the Reformat category)... or take your anamorphic QT into Compressor or Quicktime Pro and re-save it with a letterbox, I'm pretty sure either will let you go from 16:9 anamorphic to letterbox. --Evan

  • Re: Retiming Quicktimes

As Sycophant said, and having browsed around the Quicktime Kit for Cocoa-based applications, it seems like it would be fairly straightforward for someone who knows how to use Xcode. That would at least take care of the Mac side of things (nudge nudge to any Xcoders out there). Maybe when my current film ends I'll take a stab at learning how to make
