  • Re: Fastest autosync : timecode VS Waveform?

With timecode its almost instant. If you don't have timecode then mark an in on the clapper and use that. Thats quick as well.

  • Re: How to crossgrade MC expired plans

With a lapsed perpetual plan to move to the current version you need a new plan. So that can be a yearly or monthly license. Occasionally Avid offer amnesties for lapsed licenses to move upto a current plan for a reduced fee. (much teeth gnashing from those who have loyally continued support each year).

  • Re: Avid to Resolve losing metadata

The test I do is to import the AAF into a different AVid system and see if the metadat is present. If it is then it proves its in the AAF. In which case its resolve failing to import that data. For sure in the past metadata has passed to Resolve fine as its very common to round trip via Resolve from Avis. So it looks to point to a bug in the current

  • Re: Power Windows with tracking for color correction

There are lots of tutorials but it tends to change slightly as each software package evolves. But basically you export out an AAF and then add the camera sources to the media pool in resolve and as you import the AAF you link to that media. Some effects etc are supported, other not. So that has to be managed. When you come to send back to AVid you can

  • Re: When are they going to fix the Re-dos not working?

I suspect my experiences of undo in the past and the fact it can create unexpected changes means I just learnt to not risk that. Coupled with a save wiping out any chance to undo means I just never use it. Dupicate the sequence from the record monitor is my prefered method. I can quickly and easily make a copy of my current timeline and thats loaded

  • Re: Power Windows with tracking for color correction

Avid added basic shapes to the colour corrector some time ago (but this may be a symphony option) and at least initially you couldn't track those shapes. Not sure if you can now. But to be honest I've never heard of anyone going from resolve to Avid for grading. Resolve is so much more advanced as a grading tool. I'm happy to do basic simple

  • Re: Avid Stress Test Project+Workflow

MY HP workstations have buily in hardware test functions that I run for a while on new setups. But with a "standared" windows install and known apps there should be any surprises. I avoid a new MC version for a new project in case there are any bugs that impact my workflow but I read the readmes carefully for known issues first.

  • Re: When are they going to fix the Re-dos not working?

I'll give it a try next time I'm in but I have to say I rarely use undo so even less often use redo. Duping my sequence at key stages is a key workflow for me but as you get more familiar with the software most things you do you undo by reversing what you dis. If I trim too much off I just trim back more. So I think this doesn't seem much

  • Re: Can I re-import AMA linked (online) media as transcoded (.mxf) media?

If you are happy, and your system edits smoothly with linked media then fine, stick to linked media. At the end you can select the finished sequence and transcode to a resolution/codec of your choice. (that will make a c opy sequence and a new set of linked clips.) The more traditional way is to link your media. Make selects from the linked clips (sub

  • Re: Avid Project location

Its generally better to not have the project and media on the same drive but with fast SSDs nowadays that really doesn't apply. As long as you make suere you keep a second backup somewhere else you should be ok. One issue with having the project on an external drive is to ensure you never disconnect the drive with AVid running. It all gets very
