For the past few years all of my file exports from Avid have been HD 1080/50i projects - but now I need to export three films that have been digitized from Betacam SP (576/50i/PAL) to an SD timeline in Avid MC. I'd like to hear how other Avid editors handle this - what is your workflow and which file formats to you recommend? My material has been

I'd be interested in hearing how other MC editors handle the export of finished sequences to media files. In my case im running mostly 1080/50i projects. When mastering I select the IN and OUT points and the trackl for the sequence to be exported the use "Export as File" usually to a Quicktime .mov file format, retaining the sequence aspect

Thanks Job! That was a command I hadn't discovered before (who knows how many golden secret commands are hidden in MC?) Before I read your mail I had to do some experimenting. I opebned a new sequence and deleted all audio tracks. Then created them one at a time and could see thta MC was mapping the wrong track numbers to some of the Artist tracks

Today I ran into an issue that I hadn't been confronted with before - maybe someone here knows the fix... My standard timeline audio track allocation is as follows - A1 Sync (mono) A2 Sync (mono) A3 VO (stereo) A4 M&E 1 (stereo) A5 M&E 2 (stereo) A6 FX 1 (stereo) A7 FX 2 (stereo) A8 Wild (mono) This configuration automatically maps these

I very rarely use the Trim mode editor and when I do, I usually select it myself. Therefore it is a constant irritaion that MC automatically changes me into Trim mode when I don't want it. FGor example, if I have the cursor over a clip and press the "Go to next edit" shortcut, the cursor moes to where I want it and the system goes automatically

Thanks to all for their input last week when I was troubleshooting capture problems. Problem is now solved - and for those network and server nerds amongst us, the documentation of our revitalized setup may be seen here - http://www.channel6.dk/HD-Medianet/index.html This may give some inspiration to others who are running or establishing a networked

Curious capture from VTR problem (solved!) This was a tough problem to solve - the solution was simple, once I had identified where in the system the problem lay. By running bandwidth tests between both edit workstations and the four mediaservers currently in use - also etsting server to server to eliminate the workstatiion, it was obvious that the

Curious, my avid sales tech insists that it runs over HDSI :)

I'd recommend the following (though not Windows-10 specific - applies to 7 and most likely 11 too) - If possible use a SSD for your OS and applications drive. Faster access, less fragmentation (well, less necessary to defragment). Move your windows Paging file to a separate drive (I usually create a separate small partition on my system drive. Set

Does anyone know how Avid reads the lTC timecode from a HDCAM (or other sdi/HDSDI capable) VTR - is it via the HDSDI connection (embedded in the HDSDI signal) or via the seriel connection. I'm guessing HDSDI, but Avid Console is reporting spurious timecode breaks when aborting a capture and I cnnot find any such breaks when testing the VTR LTC output
