Yeah I do a similar thing to work around it. The ADM was a theory but obviously not it then. We messed around with files opserver and quicktimewrapper, but still didn't work. All I know is it's something to do with quicktime. Stupid quicktime.

By what kind of QT do you mean what codec? I believe it's an h264 codec (shot on a canon t2i but also does the same thing for Nikon D800 footage, I believe both are h264 codec however).

Go to tools-background services and then make sure 'always start avid editor services' is checked. Restart Avid. If that doesn't do it then make sure to download current AMA Drivers, the P2 Drivers is what did it for me. You shouldn't have to re-install, I had this same problem but the drivers fixed it for me.
