Hi Andrew! trust you're enjoying the long antipodean days! I'm missing them madly here in Munich. • Your subscription is in CS review. ???!!!!????

I purchased a subscription for my MC+Symphony (license) and my MC (dongle). The MC+Symphony seems to be okay (it's listed as "active" on the account overview but I haven't yet installed and tested it), but the MC (dongle) is "on hold" with the message " Your subscription is in CS review." The dongle was successfully

  • Re: Media Composer v7 - NOW AVAILABLE

One of the great advantages to Media Composer in the past was that the editor got to make all the decisions. Where Final Cut made assumptions about whether a shot was anamorphic or not, Avid made you decide what format it was. Frameflex seems to have made that concept obsolete and stolen my sense of security about what the Avid does to my edit. I've
The victim had just shown the suspects a short film that made it clear he knew things about them they'd want kept secret, so he must have an editing booth nearby. Would it be logical to have that booth adjacent to the projection booth?
Definitely. If the victim (aka blackmailer) shot it himself, he might have

Having spent the holiday season watching TV mysteries, your question has captivated me... 30 seconds of 35mm @ 24fps is 45 feet of material, so the killer could smuggle a 400ft can or even better a short end in his coat jacket pocket into the booth. A short end is the unexposed film left over when the camera asst changes rolls - you usually don't

  • Re: Crawling around in Avid FX

Hello Douglas, I just viewed your first Avid FX tutorial and enjoyed it very much. I'm not sure if this is the place for this question, but here goes: Would the video material used in a complex Avid FX effect (like the rotating cube) be consolidated in the same way as footage from the rest of the timeline? Or does one have to archive/consolidate

  • Re: Syncing Question...
What I want: A new subclip that contains 1 Video and the 2 audio tracks (A1 and A2) from the seperate recorder. I am very confused about groups and what not and how Media Composer ''chooses'' which Audio goes to A1, A2 etc. When I sync it on bin level. Please help me.. I don't seem to understand

  • Re: Terrible wages for Editors in Australia (broadcast tv)
What also concerns me is what is going to happen as soon as YouTube and Google bring out their online video editing NLE system ? These two major players have been working on this idea for quite some time, and this literally has the power to reduce our working market by at least 75 % ! Once producers get a handle

  • Re: Terrible wages for Editors in Australia (broadcast tv)

I left Sydney in the mid 80s and have been working freelance in Munich since the early 90s. I've kept half an eye on the Australian scene since then, worked a bit in Brisbane and gone to the odd documentary conference. It seems that only SBS and ABC commission the sorts of productions I work on and I'd guestimate that their production slate

  • Re: AJA IO Express Capabilities

HD SDI and HDMI work at the same time when running Media Composer with no delay or degradation. It can even downconvert to SD SDI and YUV while feeding a HDMI monitor.
