Is there an objection to using EditReady to convert these clips? That is my current solution for XAVC HD and 4K files created by the FS-7 and the AX-100. AMA into the Avid, then transcode.

I'll second that workflow, as it allows 4k Frame Flex options.

My transcription service is asking for an MP3 audio only file (with timecode) How would I go about exprting such an audio file from XAVC footage or XDCAM footage?

+1 for the EditReady product. High quality files and fairly quick conversions. Have tried others, those recommended here and that from Sony (Prepare) and so far this $49 program is the winner.

Same workflow here. Editing in AMA linked files is just not workable (for speed in multi layer editing or effects - even with a new mac and fast drives) and if you are linked to your backup media- not wise. You don't want your edit app. scrubbing those files during extensive editing.

Using MC 7.0.3, I am unable to AMA link to EX files. I must rewrap these files with an mxf wrapper using Sony's Content Browser program. Then I can import the resulting mxf files into Avid. Has this workflow changed after 7.0.4?

EditReady is a $50 app, Mac only that works for me. Not a complete help to you, sorry. I understand tgat Catalyst Prepare, now available, will perform batch transcodes, it's priced at $199
