  • Re: Overheating iMac

Hey James, I can't compare it to your iMac and it surely is no bargain, but after years of fan-intensive editing on MacBook Pros and iMacs I ultimately bought a Mac Pro and I still love it every time I put it under heavy load and hear: almost nothing but a low breeze from the fans. Regarding upgrades I went for the 12-core instead of the 8-core

  • Re: Match Frame while retaining in and out points?

I don't know whether a [Modifier]+[Match Frame] combo exists for what you are trying to achieve. What I do - hmm, maybe it's what you already do, too, and why you're looking for a shortcut ;) - when I need to match frame and "copy" current in and out from the record timeline, is four taps on the keyboard: With in and out set and

  • Re: Avid constantly accessing disk (and some console errors)

Ah, too bad. Hopefully someone with better kung fu chips in with a better idea. Out of curiosity: Did you ever, in order to maybe narrow things down, try and see what happens if you made a small MXF-folder, with just a few items, and a new project with just one short sequence? If it's AMC loading/organizing/indexing data, then this should minimize

  • Re: Need to change border color of hundreds of clips

So, Rick, just in case you come back to this thread: what my questions were headed to, is... 1) If the PiPs are static and the setups repetitive and reasonable in numbers, the cleanest thing I can imagine would be to make grids (Photoshop, Title Tool etc.) and edit those on top of your video. One could of course do it in a specific color if the color

  • Re: Avid constantly accessing disk (and some console errors)

Sorry for what might be a stupid question, but did you replace the part " Name_of_your_external_Volume" with the actual name of (one of) your drive(s)? Also, the command can take some time, like up to a minute or so, to return an output. Besides Spotlight, which you could temporarily deactivate for a test, another thing crossed my mind: Does

  • Re: Avid constantly accessing disk (and some console errors)

Are you familiar with the MacOs terminal? You can use the command sudo lsof | grep /Volumes/Name_of_your_external_Volume to get a list of processes that are - at that moment - accessing the disk. Could it be Spotlight indexing your drive(s)? Also, "whrrr click whhr" leaves room for interpretation. ;) But I guess you would sense if it was a

  • Re: Need to change border color of hundreds of clips

Hi Rick, I am afraid this can't be done the way you would like to do it. My wisdom, of course, is limited and the hive knows more than I do. So maybe someone has the trick up his or her sleeve. But if not and in case you're still looking for a way to somehow do it without manually changing each and every effect: Are the PiPs animated or static

  • Re: No sound in sequence!

Do your source audio tracks have equivalent tracks on the record side? If not, do you have 'auto-create new tracks' enabled? Maybe you're trying to edit a multi-channel source into a sequence that only has mono tracks?

  • Re: Remote Work for a freelancer

Hey David, thanks for the link. That reminded me that I wanted to check on MC and NDI. I didn't see MC via NDI when I chose NDI as a source in the Evercast Broadcasting Software, 'EBS'. (Which, at least on the surface, seems more or less identical to the open source equivalent 'OBS'.) But thanks to your reminder and consulting the

If by " set your system up" you mean one's system, then, yes, one can do that. And splitting the load would surely have improved things in my case. If by " set your system up" you mean my system, then, for the reason mentioned above, I would have loved to do so. But unfortunately I only have this one MBP available at the moment
