I don't even have any viable theories as to why this happens to certain files and not others. I have a wav file that I edited in Audition that works fine -- no display errors. If I cut a piece out of it and save it as a smaller section of the original file -- still in Audition -- the resulting file ALWAYS has the display issue. I don't know

Thanks for the response. It makes me feel a bit better to know that I'm not the only one (i.e. not a problem with my sources or system), but it's quite disconcerting in general, and makes it VERY difficult to do normal audio cutting in Avid if one of these "problem" files is necessary. L
