Jason, THANK YOU! I just ran into this as well, and found this thread and your link to the solution, which worked for me as well. It's interesting to note that I tried searching the Avid Knowledge Base for the solution to this, and even though I found an article that said to refer to the article you linked (i.e. article 368251), there was no link
As a Matrox Mini/MC5.x owner, I am livid that I can not monitor 24p 1080 currently. If I blow another $149 to that end and STILL can't, I will be SO annoyed - and if I blow another grand for the upgrade AND an Aja and still can't - jeeez. Actually there's a much harsher descriptive than "annoyed" but

Okay -- just to make sure I'm on the same page as everybody here when it comes to the subject of "24fps" projects in MC 5.5; if we're assuming that the pdf chart from Avid is correct, the Aja box supports playback of SD (NTSC) at both 24p and 23.976p (i.e. true progressive for SD), HD 720 at 23.976p, and HD 1080 at 24PsF and 23.976PsF
Looking at the Knowledge Base, it appears that even with the Aja iO Express, we will still not be able to monitor 24p (or 23.976p) from MC5.5 - that kinda sucks.
and

24p (or 23.976p)
SD you mean. HD 24p and HD 23.976p seem to be supported

MC5 "Fatal Error"ed on startup. Went back and restored Threaded Optimization to "Off", and MC5 started
Which drivers are you guys using w/ the 460?
I'm currently on the 260.99 drivers, but I plan to update to the 266.58 drivers now that they've been out for over a little while (over a month now.) This is of course a "use at your own risk" situation, and the official recommendation is to use
Everyone will recommend not to install it unless supported, that said: I Installed SP1 a few hours ago and I've had no issues with MC 5.0.3.8 patch. Then again, I'm software only, but I've imported/exported footage, made some titles, added effects, switched different workspaces, etc....everything is snappy;

I'm really curious about this as well. MS has apparently already stated that some other updates may not work correctly as we move forward, making SP1 necessary in order to continue updating at some point. I find that it can become difficult to hold off on updating too long since other apps start being designed to work with the most recent MS updates
Any real improvement like speed on anything after the 460 installation?
Since I upgraded everything at the same time (i.e. motherboard/CPU, graphics card, Windows XP to 7, and MC 3 to 5) it's difficult to tell exactly how much difference the graphics card itself made. Also, even though I can confidently
@ lalittle Thanks very much for starting this thread, invaluable advice. hate to burst your bubble but my advice above regarding 'threaded optimization' was on a new build machine - Win 7 64 bit and a Nvidia GTS 450??? AMC 3.0 wouldn't run at all, after your advice it fired up no probs. I suppose your are
