Hi Chris I've looked into my set up and I think it may have been that I was digitizing onto an external FW drive while feeding the HDCam's signal along the same FW bus. Pretty dumb I guess, my only excuse is that I had already worked 12 hours when I started the job... Thanks for your reply. Rodney

Hi y'all I did a quick search to find out if this problem has already arisen but found nothing on it. My apologies if there is a discussion somewhere that I missed. I'm working on AXP v5.7(MacPro 2x2.66 with 3GB Ram, no Mojo). I've digisited several hours of HDV material using DV 25 420 MXF. Last night I rented a Sony J H3 with iLink to digitize six

pedrougalde: I work with my laptop all the time, and beeng limited to internal storage was driving me nuts, finally the solution is: an esata card either pcmcia or pciexpress with external sata drives we use 5400rpm 160mb 2.5 inch with an portable enclosure and powered by usb bus. (we get 3 dv streams out of this) since we got a card with dual sata

Hi Rob I haven't used FreeDV for about two years, but back then I discovered I could replace the FreeDV user settings with my own (just remove the User Settings, don't trash them in case you need them again, put User Settings from a "big" Avid in the folder and rename, using the names of the original files that were in that folder). With a few exceptions

AXP only has limited usable resolutions so you'll have to choose a resolution for your project which both your systems can play, either 15:1s if you have limited drive capacity or DV420 (for PAL) or DV411 (for NTSC). There'll be a few MC effects that you won't be able to see in AXP so you'll have to choose compatible FX (eg no 3D warp, no variable timewarp

Hi Rodney NFTS drives are "readable" but not "writable". You'll have to copy across onto a FAT32 oder Mac-formatted drive in order to edit because the XpressPro isn't able to update the msm files in the OMFI MediaFiles folder on an NFTS drive. Have to pass on maximum file size question. I haven't had any problems with FAT drives on my XpressPro Mac

Hi Martin I've had the same problem of sawtooth in PAL exporting from an MC1000XL v12 to iDVD. I couldn't solve the problem in the limited time I had so I hooked up a DVD Recorder and made a straight playout from the Avid. I don't know if that is in option in your case but it sure saved me a lot of time. Happy New Year and good luck Rodney

there isn't one. you can use the timecode efect in Illusion FX to display timecode but as you note, you have to enter each value for each shot. I use it for QT exports for clients so they can follow the voiceover script, but I only have to enter the first TC (01:00:00:00). It has to be rendered but I also have to have lunch " /> As far as I know, you

I'm pleased that my question has prompted so many replies. My motivation in posing it wasn't to learn about the heroic pioneering days of the first Avid (fascinating as that is) but more to discover a website source for nut-and-bolts information like when did x come out, what hadware do you need to run version z, what options were on media composer

memories... version 4 my first job on an avid was a 60 minute TV documentary (PAL) for ZDF on a v4.something media composer (maybe an MC400?). The video card was a little slow so every cut looked like a quick dissolve, the resolution was so bad (AVR1??) that checking lipsync on wide shots was not an option (did I say wide? I mean any shot where the
