Fixed Aspect still doesnt work inside Spectramatte.

I have found that the best LUT suited for Vlog-L of GH5 for the best saturated image is ARRI ALEXA LogC to REC709.
Using the Panasonic LUT you have to saturate the image at 200% (and apply other CC as well) otherwise the image is washed out.
I hope that Avid will think incorporating somehow the excellent Baselight plugin into (or replacing Symphony) Media Composer.
It's a very good tool for Color Correction and very fast and real time.
What more to ask.
Then it will be no need for round trips (for those who like to work that way, not me at all) with AAFs etc.
George Angeludis:I hope that Avid will think incorporating somehow the excellent Baselight plugin into (or replacing Symphony) Media Composer.
For backward compatibility with older projects, I don't think Avid will remove the CC or Symphony colour tool anytime soon.
I also don't think there's much chance Avid and FIlmlight would ever get together to re-write the MC code to include Baselight Editions. Even if they did, it's a cut-down version of Baselight and colourists would still want to do serious work on a full system. It's been well over a year since Baselight 5 was announced and it's still not yet released for the Avid AVX version. Filmlight want to get it right before release, but it just shows how difficult it can be to port over to AVX.

It's only real-time if you keep the number of Baselight layers/effects pretty low. Users who send over grades from the full baselight system to Avid (via AAF, BLG or Lens) have reported having to render the effect where the colourist has 'gone to town' on a shot.
I have great confidence in Avid, Marianna and Jeff Rosica.
I think Baselight is a wonderfull CC Tool.
Here it's real time and very fast to render even in 185X.
Of course there are different needs.
A great thanks to Pat Horridge for opening my eyes.
"Sometimes when you think you are wise, you are nothing than short sighted" and I mean me.
I mean I had AVC Intra 100 native inside MC that works very well with AVC Intra footage from my GH5
but I was still transcoding at DNxHD 185X. Of course 185X has more Mbits but depending on the job
AVC Intra is more than enough (4:2:2 10 bit) and takes almost half the space.
To the great Avid engineers:
Please make MC to be able to understand HEVC codec so we can transcode to it.
It can't be imported either.
It's interesting to see how MC handles HLG files from GH5.
And also the color science to turn a VLog-L file to the 2020 HLG Color Space.
When you working with multiple Color Spaces (switching from the one to the other) you have to:
1) Create New Sequence for each Color Space.
2) Re-AMA the linked files so MC applies the right color adapters (if needed).
With that order.
If you use LUT's you don't need some or all of those adapters, so you should right click at files
go to Source Settings and delete them.
MC can understand the HLG Color Space fine as 2020 or 2020/HLG.
You have to select YCbCr2020/Hybrid Log Gamma Color Space.
And the only way to export with HLG Characteristics (but YUV Color Space) is to use AMA File Export OP1a or XAVC.
Not Avid Media Processor AMA File Export.
2018.4 supports Nvidia Driver v390.77 which is located at C:\Program Files\Avid\Utilities\nVidia.
It is the first time in Avid's history from when I remember (2005 to present)
that the certified driver is close to the most recent from Nvidia.
v390.77 January 2018.
Insert Edit at 2018.4:
Insert edit works only at Avid Media Processor (there is where the box to tick is available).
The initial export must be a whole sequence.
Then you can change an in out point of the sequence that you have made corrections.
It needs work to be done but it's a great addition.
For example Inserting edit with no audio track selected gives an error.
Inserting an audio track only makes MC unresponsive and you have to kill it.
Test made on a C4K 24fps project (DNxHR HQX).
