Is there any way to view the recorded clips (HVX200) with Panasonics P2 viewer, comment them and view the comment in 4.05? Is the comment not part of the Metadata?
Could I comment within HVX200?
BTW: Is there a P2 workflow description with HVX200 (organising edit, archiving etc) somewhere?
I ACCIDENTLY WROTE THIS IN THE MAC FORUM; PLEASE SOMEONE TRANSFER THIS POST TO PC FORUM. THANKS.
Using AMA to link to a P2 Card/Folder Structure, anything added to it in the camera or using P2 Content Management Software prior to being indexed with AMA will be a bin heading or in the case of a Text Memo it will be a locator with the comment. The P2 & AMA Workflow Guide goes into detail on this.
This is not the case for P2 Clips to Bin.

Can I "unlink" AMA. I accidently put a higher level folder with many subfolders into a bin. Now I want an own bin for the subfolder, but I cant do it, because this particular media is already linked to a different folder.
Go to File > Unmount and you'll be able to unmount the AMA volumes. You can also delete the AMALogger files that are located in the temp directory on Windows or the Home Directory on the Mac. The Temp directory location is listed in the General Settings.
The AMALogger file is the AMA Preference file and is where the path for the AMA volumes is stored.
Thanks.
Unfortunately I deleted the bin already, so I cant unmount anymore.
I deleted the AMA logger file, but with no success. Now I cant access the files in that folder AT ALL. In any project.
I get the error message: "Unable to link to any clips at: (location/address)" I cant even access any subfolders!
What else can I do to unlink?
There must be a place where the AMA data is stored
It sounds like there's something else wrong. What's the exact path for the folder? What kind of drive is the media stored? Can you copy a folder to the desktop and try to link to it?
The mxf DVCPROHD media is stored on a USB OTG drive. I have 4 partitions. On one partition is a top level folder "c3" (its actually a long description of what is in it, which I abbreviated now as c3) in which there are 3 sublevel folders, in each of them is a content folder.
I linked the c3 folder, then renamend the folder on explorer level (because only after AMA import I knew what is in it). Then I couldn´t access the media (offline), so I deleted the linked bin and tried to relink on top level. That doesn´t work (see above error message). I tried to open the sublevel folders, that doesn´t work (same error). In a different project I cant link the folder and subfolders with the media either.
Where ist the AMA data stored (PC)?
The only place this information is stored is the AMALogger File. Change the name the folder from c3 to all letter, no number, spaces, periods, dashes.... you get the idea, in any of the folders including the name of the drive.
With P2 the Contents folder and LastClip.txt should be in a folder; this is called a virtual volume. Copy one of the virtual P2 Volumes to the desktop and try to link to it.
I copied one of the subfolders to the destop and AMA can link, no problem.
Before I do anything wrong when I delete the bin and folder (of course I dont want it on the laptop) how do I do it properly: unmount the bin, then delete it, or anything else?
change the name of the drive? dont know how without formatting.
Still, there must be a way to unlink without copying all the data. Imagine you´re in the field, dont have disk space...
This is really strange: I changed the name of the top level folder (simple, no numbers this time), which I also did yesterday and now the data loads into the bin.
Still it would be good to know how to properly unlink AMA.
Now I cant unmount the bin/media which I put on the desktop for testing. I open the bin, highlight it, then choose unmount. Nothing happens.
It just doesn´t show up in the unmount dialog anymore.
Shouldn´t the media be offline? I unmounted the other bins also, the media is all still online.
Can I just delete the bin, or can I then never again access the desktop with AMA?
Are the clips highlighted yellow? If so this means they are AMA linked and the volume should be listed under File > Unmount.
If they aren't this mean the media is in the Avid MediaFiles folder.
They are not yellow and they are definately not in any Avid Media files folder, still they are there after unmounting. Can I safely delete the this bin now (or will I have problems linking it to AMA again)?
So, to sum this up: Usually I just have to delete the AMAloggerfile to "unlink" AMA?
Is there an detailed(!) AMA manual somewhere?
If the clips aren't highlighted yellow in the bin in text view, then they aren't linked via AMA. The media must be in the Avid MediaFiles folder.
In the bin heading show Drive. This will list AMA and the drive letter or just the drive letter.
The P2 & AMA Workflow Guide can be found on the Avid/P2 landing page.
You should never have to delete the AMALogger files unless something has gone wrong. To Unlink AMA volumes go to File > Unmount and the volume will be listed there. If it isn't there, it isn't being indexed.
The folder on my desktop cannot be unmounted, it doesn´t show up in the unmounting mounted list. I open unmount, still the contents in the folder are yellow. There are no Avid Media files with this content.
I guess it is because the bin was named by AMA with the same name as the Volume, although I have a folder in which the content folder is stored.
