Hello,
I tried this morning on mac os 13.6.3 / m1 max, with avid 2023.12 with latest Bmd driver 12.7, and get a lot of black frames when using JKL shortcuts. Not encouraging... and barely useable.
Can we jave a bit of clarity on the schedule for improvements of the MAC issues ? probably linked to the silicon native delay I guess.
Thanks
Can we get a timeline on this issue? It's been two years, we depend on this tools, softwares and devices. Everything else except for avid works. I understand it's complicated issue. But it's been nearly two years. It would be really helpful to know when we can expect a fix.
This issue is plaging all our systems too. I've been in touch with Avid support and they came back to me basically with what Marianna mentioned a few weeks ago - it's a BMD driver issue and all we all do is wait.
I updated MC yesterday to the latest version (2023.12) and I am seeing slight improvement in stability but I haven't stress tested it in an editing session, just reviewing a sequence and no issues.
Oddly, I experienced the beachball almost exclusively when working in high-res mode. When the video quality toggle was set to low resolution crashes were much fewer.
I'ts been 11 days since meeting, still no new information about this issue. I'ts been 6 months since this post was created and there is literally no information about this, it's always few days till it will be released.
Any updates Marianna? Its been another 2 weeks since you reached out to get an update on the driver.
Mark,
I asked Dave C. last night to reach out one more time to BMD for an update and asked that they respond by tomorrow.
Thank you 🙏🏼
So there really is no I/O hardware working properly with Avid on a Mac Studio? Maybe a stupid question but why is it not a solution to simply work in fullscreen mode without any I/O hardware?
Marianna: Mark, I asked Dave C. last night to reach out one more time to BMD for an update and asked that they respond by tomorrow. Marianna
Have they responded?

Looking at the date and time, that's another ultimatum passed. And not doing what Marianna asks... that's taking some serious risks. The wrath of Marianna...

Can we expect any update soon on this ongoing issue? Thanks
Yes, please may we get some further updates on the ongoing situation with Mac silicon and Blackmagic playback?
It's now getting on for a full year since I first got a Mac Studio and in that time there have been some incrimental improvements but I'm still currently stranded on a 2021 version of Media Composer which is the only one I can get reasonable performance out of.
And even then - there are still too many instances where crashes and instability occur. Would be great to get an honest appraisal of where things stand.
