Subcap as a substitute for Titler + and Title Tool

    Hi All

Titler + is crashing our Avids as we share around sequences. Once we remove it we are OK. I wont get into all our specs but we are on Mac. We would love to use the 32 bit old title tool but we cannot because of or OS. We are only doing very simple descriptive, directional slates eg scene missing etc. We are not creating any fancy lower thirds.

I am trying Subcap as an alternative. I can do the basics ie placing text in a black box or no box but I want to place a white title on a black background which covers the entire frame. Then I want to drag the text where I want and justify it. I only want to see a black frame with white text on it.

Seriously thinking of draging out my 2013 iMac and running High Sierra and run MC7. No reason not to. Please no comments about 32 bit still running on Windows. This is adding hours to my workflow. Very unAvid. I expect this type of bush league software on the startup NLEs. Can the old title tool be incorporated into subcap ?

I hate having to reinvent the wheel when I already paid for the wheel.

    Thanks for all the help.

So easily done using TC Burn-in FX here on PC.

I asked politely not to hear anything from the PC crowd. I am on Mac . Sir if you have nothing useful to add to the conversation please don't participate. Your post in not welcome.

That would have been great but you presented it as a Mac v pC thing. If you have the solution share it.

The Timecode generator effect (which allows you to add a note field as text) and of course the sub caps effect both offer simple titles and work on Mac or PC.

So it's not a PC specific solution. But I have to say since Catalina there hasn't been a sensible Mac Avid titling solution.

You're welcome. On my 1080 Project, those position values in Display 4 do make a FULL screen of Black.

Note the font size is 999. If you download the jpg, you can see my whole UI, including Composer.

And just for kicks, you can actually change a Setting > Titler+> Add Titler+ text to Clip Notes, THEN have your Titler+ words show up as pull-down option within TC Burn-In FX, using Displays 1 thru 4, instead of Text field at bottom. On my system, it works even if the Titler+ track has its visibility OFF. That might come in handy in some Burn-In scenario, like spell-checking, or be a gateway to actually getting handy with Titler+, which I'm liking more and more. It's all spelled out in the eventual how-to: "Going Nuts with Titler+" a deep dive into obscure advanced topics, only. I think Titler+ is really powerful, for what it is, and expect it will improve.
