Hi,
Our workflow for exports has been setup using quicktime reference files wich are send to a telestream vantage server, wich in turn can process the ref files directly from our nexis. I'm suspecting our holding is going to forbid the use of quicktime sooner or later so am now trying to figure out an alternative workflow.A same as source export or mixdown is out of the question since that takes up workstation time.I know that the UME engine does not support quicktime ref exports. Are there any alternatives that somebody is aware of?
Regards
SAS exports using UME are very quick now.
That's the route people are going.
Could an AAF with linked media of a mix downed seq work?

SAS would take too long and take up too much drive space i'm afraid.
AAF would be perfect but our transcoding server has no way of handeling this ;/
Get an old Mac Mini or something cheap (or expensive) that can run Avid and use that to make your SAS and have it drop that in a watch folder that Vantage picks up and runs a workflow on? That way, once QC is done you can open the sequence on the inexpensive render machine and have it kick off the SAS. After that Telestream will do the rest once it picks up the file and you have a SAS master to archive if you want.
