    Avid MC 'requires Activation' issue

    I'm running v2018.5 of MC. Following a period in which I didn't have MC installed, I re-installed it on my Win10 64-bit PC a week or so ago. The install went off without a hitch, as did the 'Electronic Activation'. Until today, I could run MC without any problems.

    On loading MC this afternoon, the 'Activation' dialogue-box popped-up - which was odd as I had already activated the software.

    I ran the 'Electronic Activation' process and noted that both 'Media Composer' and its 'Symphony' option were listed, in the Application Manager' as being activated.

    Thinking the problem might lie with an outdated 'Application Manager', I clicked the 'update' link in the AM's 'Apps' tab and got the following error, "Failed Install: application Manager install failed. Installer not found."

    So now I am unable to run Media Composer.

    I have not altered my PC in any way, be it via hardware or software installation/uninstallation; nor do I allow 'Windows' updates.

    I saw that there has been a 'running' issue with Avid's Activation process across a few years now but no 'fix' as such seems evident to me.

    UPDATE - I found a process mentioned in a post from a few years ago (re: deleting a cache and a db etc); and it fixed the issue i.e. MC now loads and runs fine.

    Makes me wonder, though, if this 'bug' has been fixed in the intervening period since my 'support' expired.

    Had a colleague experience something similar and resolved it by installing Avid Link.
