    Multicam weirdness

I have 3 QT files (720P) of an interview that I use to teach MC's multicam workflow. This has worked well for 5 or 6 years but just now I am seeing a very odd thing. I set everything up as usual, create a group clip based on Inpoints, set up the source monitor to show the quad split, edit the group into a sequence and invoke Multicam mode. The keyboard settings are default - f-keys 9-12 should switch angles 1, 2, 3 and 4. But ... M2 switches to angle 3 and M3 switches to angle 2. M1 and M4 are OK.

I see this on a number of our iMacs (OS 10.14.6) with MC 2018.12.6 and also on my home system, 10.14.6 and MC 2019.9. I've created new projects, new profiles, assigning the multicam keys to different keys on the keyboard and no change. I created a 4-way group with different clips - no good. What's odd is that when not playing, the keys switch angles in the source monitor and timeline correctly but when I play, M2 and M3 play the wrong quads. Anyone?

iMac i5 27", 40GB RAM, OS 13.3.1 with MC 2023.3 with Symphony option, BlackMagic 4K. 2020 MacBook Air with MC 2022.7 ... and NewsCutter 7.x on Dell... [view my complete system specs]

OK - further insights. If the group is loaded into the source monitor and the the angles are left untouched, it works correctly. If you hold down the command key and switch which cam is in which quad before starting to cut, it switches the wrong angle. I can create a screen capture to show this but could somebody else test, please? Now seen on a number of installations.

    The Readme for 2019.11 included:

    • Bug Number: MCCET-3057. Group clip names were not in order.

    • So I hoped this had been fixed but it still does not work correctly.
