So I tried to open media composer first this morning after having to move all of my audio plugins to my desktop because of the unfortunate and counterintuitive sibling rivalry between mc1st and protools on the same system, Through Avid Link. But instead of an 'open program' button there was an 'update' button. So, though hesitant and frustrated simply because I just wanted to get back to work, I rolled my eyes and muttered "Oh here we go again" and clicked update. Then I closed my eyes and covered my ears as if I were waiting for some kind of explosion. Long story short about an hr later after following the prompts ,which i assume exist to guide one through the process(im starting to think Im wrong about that one) I come to the installation part of the process where the"update" button changes to an "install" button in Avid Link. so I pressed install. of course Windows could not install it because there was another version of the software already installed. Am I missinig something? A majority of the problems I have encountered with Avid software over the years has been a direct resut of file allocation and installation, Not hadware or system specs. So Why then would Avid link not uninstall the original version?. I feel like Im taking crazy pills?! Isnt that what an update is? yes I know all I have to do now is manually uninstall mc1st and proceed( with fingers crossed) I guess Im just trying to figure out what can be done to keep this or any other of the countless dozens of issues from happening every time I update or install PT or MC. literally every time there is some kind of problem. If there are further steps I need to take then what purpose does AVid Link really serve? Just another Social Network? I apologize if I sound rude. The reason I get so frustrted is because I lliterally spend 15+ hrs a day 7 days a week grinding it out in ProTools. Its my whole life. And when it works I love it, but when youre so heavily invested in something that only works right half of the time the stress becomes overwhelming at times. What I have experienced with MC1st so far has been even worse than Protools. . If anyone has had similar experience and can offer sincere advice(not the smug replies I see so often in these forum) I would very much appreciate it.
oh yeah windows 10 i7 7th gen 16g ram 500g ssd(Program files) 1tb 7500hdd(personal files)
Hi Producifer,
It would be great to get some information about what versions of MC | First and Pro Tools you are using.
On Windows when we perform an installation, if an older version is detected we should perform the uninstall and then install the new version.
