    Importing PNG files

I've been supplied a load of stills as PNG files, which come into Avid as matte keys.  I'd rather have them as normal clips.

Should I convert them to TIFF or JPEG (best quality) in Preview in order to import them?  These will then be the source files for the online so I need to retain the best quality.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

I always bring stills in as PSD (Photoshop) files. JPEG is a lossy format, and they tend to lose quality each time they are saved.

If you don't need the alpha channel information, change the alpha setting to "ignore" in your import settings and the stills should come in as master clips instead of matte keys.
