Hi,
does anyone run MC7 on the HP XW 6600 workstation? I can buy one for small bucks;
HP Workstation xw6600 - Dual Xeon E5440 2,83Ghz, 8-cores, FSB 1333Mhz - 10Gb DDR2 ECC mem - Quadro FX 3800 - 2x Seagate 1TB HD 7200RPM in RAID 0 - DVD-RW - PCI Wifi-n card - PCI-e Renesas USB 3.0 - eSATA bracket - Cardreader - 650 watt
Or does MC7 need a more modern CPU?
Thanks ahead,
iedjie
I don't see why not.
FYI - those Renasas cards are a bit "hot-or-miss" in our experience. Hopefully, the drivers are better since we tried them several months back.

Hi Dom,
isn't it so that newer CPU's handle AVC media a lot better? And I'm also concerned about AMA linking on 6 year old machines...
So actually my question remains, does anyone run MC7 smoothly on a HP XW 6600 with 2 Xeon CPU's?
I'd just check the 10GB of RAM is optimal. I'd look at 16GB ideally.
