    Avid DVD by Sonic

    Hello,

Can someone tell me why AVID DVD BY Sonic keeps on saying that a file to burn a single layer DVD is to big.

    Original it was 5.2 Gb

I lowered the bitrate in Squeeze twice and now the file is 2.8 Gb but Avid DVD by Sonic still holds on to the 5.2 GB.

    What is going on??

    Regards Jan

Try re-building the DVD project from scratch.

I've found it to be pretty unstable once you start change assets.

Look real close at the timeline. Scroll all the way verticially. Make sure all but your latest encode are removed and you have a clean timeline. Often Avid DVD will want to re-transcode everything brought in to it. You need to check your project settings as well.

It's possible Avid DVD isn't happy with the source file and is assuming it's going to re-encode so your encode settings in Avid DVD maybe too high.

It's very tricky to make an MPG file that Avid DVD will pass straight through. Never found anyone prepared to detail exactly what it needs so you have to work it trial and error until you get an MPG spec that's right.

A DVD vaild MPG can and will be rejected by Avid DVD. It's fussier than the offical DVD spec I think.

    Re: Avid DVD by Sonic

Jan have you checked the Project settings within Avid DVD

Goto File>Project Settings and check the bitrate settings under the SD Transcoding TAB. or the HD transcoding Tab if you are trying to burn HD

I was caught out by this ssome time ago.

    Regards

    Fred
