Re: AVC 50p in 25p Project!

You'll have to convert it to 25p. I use Sorenson Squeeze to do that. If you convert it using the DNxHD codec in Squeeze then it will fast import into Avid. You might want to check these links out: http://community.avid.com/forums/p/120447/694525.aspx#694525 and http://community.avid.com/forums/t/115288.aspx?PageIndex=1.

Re: AVC 50p in 25p Project!

It’s a disappointment that AVID does not handle (import/transcode/AMA) 1080p50 when most otter edit applications like PP & FCP  does.

Just as a p.s. to this thread, MC 6.5 can handle overcranked 50FPS from certain cameras E.G., the Sony F555 and may be others I haven't tried, allowing it to play back in slo mo (frame for frame), in a 25fps project.

It does beginning with MC7, the OP has, as so often happens, an empty profile, otherwise the answer might have been easier and better / faster.

I have MC7. I'd like to import the 50 frames to play it frame by frame (slomo). Link to AMA drops frames, reducing the length. I want ALL the frames :)

Re: AVC 50p in 25p Project!

    It's great to hear that MC7 does it. I'm using MC5.5.3.7 and I have MC6 but not 6.5 so I can't import it. I use a Panasonic SD707 that shoots 1080P/50.

    Ok, this is how to:

Import into Squeeze, use the Avid J2k codec, same aspect as origin , framerate 1 : 1 and audio unticked.

Import the readycreated file into Avid and 1080 25p using the console command you described in your opening post, you can use any Avid codec you like and the file will not fast import of course.

That new imported file will be double the length of the origin one and will be slowmo.

Also try, for Sony XDCAM, update to the latest plug-in version.

    1. AMA link to file

    2. Highlight the file

    3. In the scroll box under the name input box, normally set to "all files", change to SONY XAVC XDCAM files.

    4. Ingest. Big Smile

Just curious if this workflow was somewhat succesful for you and got you up and running
