Broadcast Wave Monophonic Meta-Data in TRK Bin Column

    Hello All,

Just wondering if some one could give me some insite on something that has been pestering me for years. When ever we are working and shooting is happening we import our Monophonic Broadcast Wave files. Our location sound person has always taken the time to ID who is on what channel. My question to you all is, is there a way to display that info once the BWF files have been imported. Here is an example.

We import the day's material, There are 6 recorded tracks out of Possible 9 channels. Only the channels that have info on it come in so we have channels 1-6. Everything has been imported and is now one file which is 6 channels of audio. The Track Pannel has it setup A1-6. You can rename the track pannel but that's really it. It does not come accorss when you cut it into a timeline. I take a look at the bin the files were just imported to and switch it to a bin setting I created called "Sync ID". In the bin i see the columns TRK1, TRK2 etc to TRK6. Our location's sound has entered in the info for these coloums. TRK1 - Mono Mix, TRK2 Boom, TRK Jeff (characters name) etc to TRK6 Molly (characters name)

I see in the timeline option in the bottom left hand corner of the time line that you are able to select certain information under the setting "Clip Text" with a varity of options such as Clip names, Clip Tracks (which only gives the display of A1 to A6 on each sound file and what track they are) etc. Is there any way to add this fuction of displaying the TRK info from the bin and Metadate that comes in with the BWF files and have them carried across to your timeline? If not does avid intend to have this option available? It would be a great help espically if we are working on large projects with lots of cast, everyone has there own mic and will allow us to have the info infront of us while cutting instead of flipping threw sound reports.

Hope to hear from some one soon.

    Cheers

    Heyt There,

Sorry for my delay. Didn't notice that some one answered. Here is the device that location sound has been recording to

    http://www.sounddevices.com/products/788t/

Again I can see the info that recordist has entered in the TRK Column (ie TRK1 Mix, TRK2 Boomwhich, TRK3 Jimmy...etc) would be a great help to display along with the clip ID.

    Thanks again for the reply.

    Cheers
