Is there a way to play the timeline at low speed?

I have a problem with some footage and want to play back at low speed, marking various points as I play. I know how to do the marking (even though the play line will stop each time I hit a shortcut key to drop a marker - but i can live with that).

But is there any way to play the timeline at low speed - say half or quarter? I suppose I could apply a timewarp filter, figure it all out and calculate where the markers would go in real time - but I'd prefer not to have to do that.

Hold down the pause (K) key and press either (L) play or (J) play reverse.

if you map a locator to a key (I use F2 and F3 for that), playback won't stop when you drop the locator. ...unless that's changed in MC6?

You're correct wil - and no, it hasn't changed in MC6

This works great!, but is this an "actual" function listed in the manual, or just something that happens to work by accident?

Re: Is there a way to play the timeline at low speed?

It's a design feature as far as I know.  I've always used it.  I can't recall if it's in the manual or not - I first saw it demonstrated at a trade show on the Avid stand in the mid '90s.
