    No media drives available

I'm trying to import a file into a bin and a messsage comes up saying "There are no media drives available. You will only be able to import shot logs." Then when I go to the media creation setting and click on the import tab it says "all drives filtered out" and won't let me select a drive. Then when I go to the drive filtering and indexing tab it all 3 of the boxes are unchecked. How can I fix this. I have a MacBook Pro with the Lion operating system

First, to run on Lion, you need tp be running MVC v5.5.3.  Second, if you're trying to write to your internal drive you can't, until you modify permissions.  This has been the case since snow Leopard.

I need to upgrade to Media Composer 5.5? And how do I modify permissions?

"... I need to upgrade to Media Composer 5.5? ..."

    Not just 5.5, but 5.5.3

BTW, it's not recommended to store media on the internal drive.  It can affect performance.

    Re: No media drives available

I have not upgraded to MC 5.5.3 yet but I modified the permissions and it seems like that worked. I am now able to upload files. Thank you very much for your help. I appreciate it.

    Re: No media drives available

yeah, I ran into that problem. I'll just upgrade to 5.5.3. One more question, I'm not sure if you know this or not, but I am a student at Columbia College Chicago so I have a student/educational version of Media Composer 5, so can I buy the normal upgrade for $149.00 and will that update my software?

    Re: No media drives available

    Hi,

I know this question has been asked a million times, but I still can't get this to work for me.

    Can somebody please help me?

Same problem, I'm getting the "There are no media drives available." message.

I'm brand new to Avid, and somewhat new to Macs.  I really need someone to give me step by step instructions, please!

    Thanks!!
