transfering a sequence from a project to another project

    Hello:

I have a few shots with titles in a certain project, and i want to take it from there and import it to another project.

Instead to  edit the same shots with titles, i want to import it or doing other things to put it in the new project.

    How do i do it?

Both projects in the same harddisk. i can,t open both media of the projects.

    I hope i am clear

    File > Open Bin

Then, navigate to the other project, and open the bin with the sequence you want to use.  That bin will now be available in both projects.  For safety, you should move the sequence to a new bin in the new project.

Rather than move the sequences copy them. If you open a bin from project B in Project A any changes you make to that bin will affect Project A.

So open the bin. Making a new bin and copy the required content from the opened bin to the new bin.

Then close the opened bin and work on the content in the newly created bin.

Don;t foget if you have a title you want to re-use you can open the effects editor and click on the edit title button to re-open title tooll with that title and then save as to a new bin to have a copy of the title.

Clips & sequences are just pointers to the media.  One piece of media can have multiple pointers.

That's not quite true. You can use master clips and media from project A inside project B or any other project at any time by using the open bins command. HOWEVER, media "borrowed" into project B in this manner remains linked to project A, and if project A and it's media is deleted, the borrowed media in project B will be deleted as well. To avoid this, use the consolidation function while inside project B to "clone" new clips and media from project A that will now be linked to project B. All consolidated media clips will have a ".new" extension for easy identification. Use these .new clips in your editing inside project B.

    It's Larry, by the way.

    1) Open project B

    2) Use File>open bins to navigate to and open appropriate bin from project A

    3) Highlight clips in project A's bin, right click and choose "consolidate/transcode"

    4) Identify destination drive, keep audio and video on the same drive, and de-select all options on the right hand side of the consolidation window. Click OK.

    5) Leave the default option on next window, "master clips linked to media on the original drive" active. Click OK. Consolidation now proceeds.

    6) Move the newly created ".new" clips from the borrowed bin of project A into an active bin in project B.

    7) Close out borrowed bin from project A.

When conslidating a sequence, the procedure is the same, but you will not get the second dialog window about master clip linkage. All new clips generated for that sequence will remain linked to that sequence, unless you choose to generate a new sequence.

Re: transfering a sequence from a project to another project

    Hi there,

I have been trying to do the same, but I really need to transfer the whole sequence, as it is edited to a project that has a different sequence and I want to use parts first sequence as it is. As an example. Project A completely on one harddrive 1, Project B on another, but without the files, as they are already on Harddrive 1. There are many binsa anyway. So, I want the just edited sequence from Project1 with all its edits and video and audio NOT mixed down to transfere it to harddrive 2 and into project 2, so that I can take parts from Sequence 1 and integrate them into sequence 2 and if necessary also change the edit points.

Many thanks. Maybe, please, Larry, you can talk me through that, would be great.

    Many thanks, Anita
