Audio suite "DAE not connected", no audio tools. Reading in the forums about permissions for Common Files/Digidesign/DAE I have all permissions, divers seems to be there, I wonder if it's the Real Tech audio card that came with my computer. I have not gone out to select a new audio card yet however everything else is working fine.
Any ideas what might be causeing DAE not to connect?

It would appear that you have a software only config, no Mojo, no DIGI. I would check device manager and see if you have any driver issues. If all is OK then do you know if there are third-party drivers loaded for the audio card? If so then I would attempt to load a Microsoft driver for your audio card. Some third-party drivers cause issues. You can right-click the device in device manager and click update driver, pick manually select driver, and see if a generic/Microsoft drivers is listed. If so then choose it to load it.

There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that get binary, and those that don't.
Yes I have software config, I have the manufactor divers, my drivers are from:Realtek Semiconductor Corp. signed by: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher.
I guess maybe I should look for a different sound card, what would someone recomment? I do you the midi in but I think I might be able to also you USB in for Midi.
Many users prefer and are very happy with the performance of Soundblaster Audigy cards.

Please confirm the following folder path:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE | Plug-Ins | Plug-Ins (Unused)\DAE Prefs
In the installed directory I only found this:
C/ProgramFiles(x86)/Digidesign/Drivers/drivers/
Doing a search I found this:
C:\Users\Ron\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\DAE Prefs
I don't think their installed.
Don't know if you found a remedy for the issue, but I was having the exact same problem and found the resolution from another post:
Directions to remedy:http://avid.force.com/pkb/LegacySearch?DocId=368251Vilém
Thank you so much problem solved. I was just about to replace the sound card with an SB audigy might do it any way.
The path was C:\Users\Ron\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\
The link post was exactly helpful. The DAE/properties/sercuity did not have permissions check for user.
Glad it helped!
Jason,
THANK YOU!
I just ran into this as well, and found this thread and your link to the solution, which worked for me as well.
It's interesting to note that I tried searching the Avid Knowledge Base for the solution to this, and even though I found an article that said to refer to the article you linked (i.e. article 368251), there was no link provided, and I couldn't find the actual article that showed the solution. Your link, however, worked.
I'm also not clear about why this was an issue. Why would this specific folder require the extra steps to set it up correctly when all the OTHER folders that Avid uses work just fine?
Thanks again,
Larry
It worked on windows 10, MC 8.5 version too. Thank you so much.
