    Patch 5.0.3.4 a definite no-go!

Just installed the latest patch, and SN will not play ANY sequences in the Record (right) window. Tried it in x4 projects. You get a stream of Access Violation error codes. Oddly enough, anything will play in the Source window, including sequences. Rolled back to 5.0.3.2 and all is well...ermmm, as good as this release is so far, that is, which is certainly a qualified "all is well".

Seems like a major slip up to me. Please don't forget to release the "kill all" feature for the obnoxious smart tool soon too, and the ability to customize the interface as we had for so many years, etc.

On it and checking this out now...   could you send me the access violation errors exactly as you see them and the crash error logs to my email address.

    Re: Patch 5.0.3.4 a definite no-go!

Sorry, Marianna, I cannot - after ensuring that there wasn't anything else beside the 5.0.3.4 patch that could have caused the problems, rebooting thrice, power down/up, etc., I rolled back to 5.0.3.2 (apparently 5.0.3.3 was a no-no too), as I needed to work!

What I can say -- there were multiple prompts per error. Hitting "play" on the timeline caused these - nothing moved in the timeline/Record window, though you could see a still image (no error codes in the Record window as sometimes happens.)  And as I wrote, anything, including seqs, played just fine in the Source window.

I will send you the logs now - HTH.

    Re: Patch 5.0.3.4 a definite no-go!

Please tell me you have some information about this.  We installed the 5.0.3.4 patch today and are locked up with the errors.  Has a fix or workaround been discovered yet?  We are stumped and in a bind with deadlines.

We have tried rolling back to 5.0.3.2 which did not work, then tried re-installing 5.0.3 (main intstall).  No dice.

    Thanks very much.

    Please help soon.

We are on a Avid Symphony Nitris.

Yes, it would be good to hear that Avid is at least working on this issue - perhaps it's an extra nasty one!

As I wrote, we rolled back to 5.0.3.2 w/out problem - just uninstalled the update from the Control Panel menu. You can see my sys specs. If you are getting the same errors as I reported, you should try to uninstall/reinstall Symphony...but tha is a bit of a pain.

    Re: Patch 5.0.3.4 a definite no-go!

So, it seems to be a problem with Nitris "Classic" hardware.

We uninstalled all Avid programs through the Windows Control Panel, and re-installed them with the DVD's.

We are back up and running, with our fingers crossed.

    Thanks to Adam at Avid.

    Re: Patch 5.0.3.4 a definite no-go!

Thanks for reporting back, Marianna. However, and not to be overly semantic, this is more than a bug - it makes this version for Symphony totally unusable, as NO sequence will play in the Record window. 5.0.3.2 shall thus rock on...

Since I've got you on the proverbial line - is anything being done about the bug I reported some weeks ago, and see w/ all flavors of v5 on my Symphony? That is, every time I open an HD project I have to wake up the Video Out settings to allow the SD display. This was never the case in previous versions - the settings always 'stuck' (were always on as I set them), as I always work w/ a SD CRT monitor in addition to the HD monitor. Old projects, new projects, trashed user/MC state settings, etc. - nothing fixes it. Or am I the only one seeing this?

Does this patch also affect Nitris DX hardware?

If you have 5.0.3.4 installed with the Nitris Classis, you can try to disable "Generate LTC output on playback." This might resolve the issue.
