Maybe I'm doing something wrong but for me in MC5 very hard to select new track in asymmetric trimming. In old versions it was shift click on the right or left side of slice but now even with disabled smart tools, this tools impede to select necessary side of trimming slice.
Thanks for your message, I felt like I was the only one. I noticed the same weird behavior and wrote about it last night - ok, I should have created a new topic, not used one that was already there... :

Maybe an admin can move my other post to this thread? It's a pretty post, with nice pictures...
Yes, that feels also strange to me.
You have to deselect the side you don't want to trim instead of select the side you want to trim (in older version).
I'm afraid it's not a bug but the new behaviour of the trimming tool?!?

I played again with it, and with the trim on v4 to compare. If the behavior is roughly the same, what makes it less easy to use is that on v5 you need to be almost exactly on the side of the cut to deselect it and then click precisely on the other side. On v4, the "region" where you can click to select/deselect is much wider.
And that's probably what made it easier to use before v5.
here is the next problem, it's hard to describe:
if you want to move video and audio asymmetric your "main" trim is always the one you selected the last time.
So in the past I simply doubleclicked on the videotrim to move that as the "main" trim.
But now the doubleclick effects a slip and slide function.
I have a client approval, tomorrow and don't feel very comfortable with MC5 (I also have some crashes and audio stutters sometimes).
I hope I can go back to v4.0 for tomorrow. I hope it works with 10.6.3 ?

I know what you mean and agree that it's a problem.
The double-click to change slip to slide should use a modifier key instead, so that a normal double click can be used as you describe.
Also, if you have a slide trim selected on a group of clips, double clicking doesn't invert this trim correctly, it just switches to slide-trim on the *single* clip that you double clicked next to.
That needs to be thought through more
Is there any hope that Avid will fix the new trim behaviour ?!?
Blimey this has been going on since June and is still f*d. Hmm
Using control + click to select the watch point works on a PC, but it's all still a bit painful, when asymmetric trimming was one (of many) of the major reasons I prefer to cut on avid.

Ah, that's very helpful!
