The long anticipated version 5.0 is here (and the hard working folks at Avid Technology are STOKED!)
Please be patient as the server is being "scattered, smothered, covered, chunked, diced, peppered, capped & topped." I suggest using a downloader that resumes after the server crashes...e.g. Orbit. While you are waiting for the download, you might wanna check out these tutorials:

Important Announcement about ScriptSync:
Starting with the release of Avid Media Composer v5, Avid Symphony v5, and Avid NewsCutter v9, we are breaking out the ScriptSync functionality from the main applications and providing it as a purchasable option.
Why you ask?
Avid partners with a third party company and licenses their underlying technology in order to provide the features that ScriptSync offers. Recently our contract with this partner was renewed, and because of this Avid has chosen to offer ScriptSync as an option. By providing ScriptSync as an option, Avid does not pass the cost of the technology to all customers, but allows customers who do take advantage of this technology, ScriptSync, to continue to do so for an exceptional price.
What does this mean to customers?
With the release of Avid Media Composer v5.0, Avid Symphony v5.0, and Avid NewsCutter v9.0, Avid has decided to provide, free of charge, a final version of ScriptSync to any customer who is upgrading from a previous version of Avid Media Composer, Avid Symphony, or Avid NewsCutter. Avid Media Composer v5, Avid Symphony v5 and Avid NewsCutter v9 will be the last versions of the editing software where we will provide ScriptSync free of charge. When the next versions of Avid Media Composer, Avid Symphony, and Avid NewsCutter are released, customers will have to purchase ScriptSync as an option.
What if I am on Avid Support?
For customers that have an Avid Media Composer, Avid Symphony, or Avid NewsCutter system covered by a valid Avid Support Contract, we have decided to provide, free of charge, a final version of ScriptSync to accompany the upgrade to version 5.0 and version 9.0. However if you continue to keep your contract valid, this will be your last upgrade. Again, Avid Media Composer v5, Avid Symphony v5 and Avid NewsCutter v9 will be the last versions of the editing software where we will provide ScriptSync free of charge. When the next versions of Avid Media Composer, Avid Symphony, and Avid NewsCutter are released, Avid Support Contract customers will have to purchase ScriptSync as an option.
What if I buy an upgrade to version 5 or version 9?
Customers upgrading from a previous version of their editing product with ScriptSync to version 5 or version 9, will receive a free version of ScriptSync. Details to follow.
How much will this cost?
Any customer that buys a new copy of Avid Media Composer v5, Avid Symphony v5 or Avid NewsCutter v9 can purchase ScriptSync for $995 (US MSRP). International pricing can be obtain from a regional office.
Will there be future upgrades?
Yes. Avid has a development schedule in place and plans additional features to ScriptSync over time. As such, we plan to provide upgrades for ScriptSync at a reduced cost. The cost for upgrades will be available in the future.
