Magic Bullet Looks Still Good on MC5?

    Hi,

Magic Bullet Looks is our primary styler. I just want to make sure. Will it still work with the latest MC?

    Thank you.

It's an AVX2 plugin, I think it should work, but I'm not in a position to confirm that at the moment.

Re: Magic Bullet Looks Still Good on MC5?

According to Red Giant Software it only works with Media Composer 2.7 or earlier.  Their matrix only lists up to MC3.0.  I have used it on MC3.0  and later though.  I currently run it on MC 4.0.5 on Leopard on one system and Snow Leopard on another.  The only incompatibility I have found is that it does not support 1080P at 23.98.  It splits the frame in half and then crashes MC.  I have to switch to 720P and render it.  This is very annoying since I am rendering at an incorrect resolution.  I contacted their support concerning this and they said they could not test it since they do not have a MojoDX box to support that project type.  As for MC5?  I hope so too since we use Looks on every major project.

Looks like theri support matrix hasn't been updated in a long while.

    I'd contact their support:  http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/company/contact-us/support/

I just quicky opened my MC 5.0.3.1 and put a Looks effect on a clip and it seemed to work as normal.  Don't have the time to really push it around, however.

Re: Magic Bullet Looks Still Good on MC5?

Had the same question last week, and looking at Red Giants support chart, was no help. woefully out of date. Wrote to support and the response I got from Dave Vieira at Red Giant that Looks and Mojo are both supported. Like Scott, I've installed Looks, and applied a quick effects in V5, and played back some V4 sequences that had Looks effects on them, and so far, everything has worked fine. But, haven't done any in depth Looks yet. But, I'm comfortable in saying everything should be fine.

Re: Magic Bullet Looks Still Good on MC5?

I have had success with MC 5.0.3 and Looks.  I have even solved the rendering issue I have been having with the 1080p/23.98 projects.  I typically place the Looks effect onto filler above my clips to do a color grade of a scene and then I can easily get to my color correction balancing on my clips below.  I found that if Looks is placed directly on the clip, even with a color correction nested below it will render in 1080 now without issue.

Might want to ask about Windows 7 on the Media Composer - PC forum.  We're a bunch of Mac users over here.

    Hello!

It's seven months later. I still enjoy MBLooks.

Just curious about the future of the plug-in. RedGiant seem very quiet about Avid.
