Can't connect Mojo DX to 46" Samsung LED

    Hi everybody,

We have recently purchased a Samsung UE46B6000 LED TV for our edit bay so it provides BIG HD monitoring.

We connected our Mojo DX to the Samsung through the HDMI cable. Our avid project is 1080/24p.

Problem is the LED doesn't recognize the signal: the message 'not supported mode' appears on the black screen.

IMHO I think is a problem of vertical refreshing because, as the manual specifies, it can only support 1920x1080 60 Hz.

Is there a way of monitoring HD through the mojo with this consumer flat TV? It's a refresh issue or a framerate issue? How can I configure the Mojo DX to set the appropriate parameters?

    Many thanks in advance

If you are in version 4.0.2 I would suggest trying the following:

Switch the sequence to either 50i (seeing as how you are in Spain) or 59.94.  This will add a 3:2 pull down sequence and maybe make the output of the Mojo DX something the monitor will like.

The is a limitation on many prosumer monitors, they don't like the 1080 24 PsF. I have several Panasonic Plasmas that don't like the 1080 24PsF

Let me restate this another way.  You bought a comsumer TV that only supports 1080i5994 or 720p 5994 and are in a 1080p24 editing project.  Now,you are wondering why the TV does not show the video signal.  Hummmm…..

TV does not work in film projects.  You can try cross convert in the video output tools (1080p 24 to 1080i 5994). I believe this is supported in  (V4.0.x and higher).  Otherwise, the hardware is outputting 1080p 24 (some monitors will interpret this as 1080i 50) and the 60 FPS TV that are sold in this country will not lock to that signal.  The other option is to buy a good monitor that Avid tests and supports (HP LP2475w).  the Engineer I asked specifically has one of these and all projects and frame rates will play.

I have also seen this with some (samsung) monitors that "do" support 24p....still a no go from dx (nitris) over HDMI....not sure what the reason was...it was never resolved....questions were raised over the actual pixel size of the image outputed over HDMI from the dx but this was never proven......not trying to apportion blame but it is very frustrating.

Re: Can't connect Mojo DX to 46" Samsung LED

    Many thanks to all

Well, it works with an AJA HDlink converter, but picture quality is not optimal. We don't have MC 4.0, only 3.5 so we can't crossconvert.

I think we will replace it for a professional Panasonic plasma as soon as we can.

Again, thank you for your time,

Does the monitor work with a 1080p/23.976 project?  I would expect that it would.

Or at a minimum the crossconvert should work from a 1080p/23.976 project. Unless this is something the Nitris DX does that the Mojo doesn't, I've seen more than a few consumer HDTVs hooked up this way.
