Also, is that 191.07 for a geforce? The latest drivers I see for quadro fx is 191.00 ( 22.9.2009). I see 191.07, but it's for geforce cards, no?
Thanks..
got media composer 3.5 installed and works fine, except there is no video playback - hopefully will have it sorted soon

I would say that it doesn't work fine then. It's like a used car salesman telling you that car runs great, *whispers* when you push it down a hill.

I've tried playing around with Avid 4.0.2 in Windows 7. It actually works pretty well for the most part. Main issue as I remember is video not playing until a graphics driver reinstall, crash on quit, and crash issues with going to tape and capturing. Overall not a nightmare but could be much better. It's unfortunate it's taking this long to certify considering that Win7 has been in public beta since January. =/

I understand where you're coming from but I suspect Avid doesn't bother utilizing too many development resources on a beta product. They'll wait for the final release before they start to really look at it and then they may wait until Windows 7 SP1 before they officially support it. I don't blame Avid for this strategy - it's the smart way to utilize your development resources. Remember that MC has a very strict set of requirements for its platform configuration. If this were a piece of software indended to run on every Joe's computer, then immediate support of Windows 7 would be far more critical to their business model.
With that said - I'll be interested to see how long it takes them considering the change from Vista to Windows 7 is pretty thin...
Cheers
Steve

It's working out fine for me on Window7 Ultimate with my new HP8710w Laptop. I downloaded the newest Quaddro driver (notebook version) 191.0 and it played out nice...even on HD 1080i project green mode with no hig up at all. Only when I hit the Full Screen Playback then it started to choke up. Other than that seems to be ok. But it can play full screen on green/yellow ok.
My footage is on the External 1.5 TB. Seagate Freeagent HD with eSATA connection to the PC card slot on my laptop.

You are right. The download driver is shown as 191.00. However, when I installed it, system information from nvidia control panel says 191.07.

Thank you again! And Full screen playback works too? Last question, I promise:
Salud!
The only application that wouldn't install was MetaFuse...the dialog box said for WindowXP only.
That's odd because MetaFuse installs and runs fine on Vista 64... perhaps it's checking for XP and Vista as prerequisites but simply reporting 'needs XP'. Were you trying MetaFuze 2.x?
Hello All,
I just wanted to say, even though Windows7 isn't supported, I appreciated all the posts concerning Win 7 and MC. I did install WIN7 ultimate with NVIDIA drivers from HP (195.56m I believe) and everything is working with a snap! Very easy install and I haven't had a Hiccup with any of my programs (including MC 4.03).
Now before asks anyone 'did you test this', or 'you need to test that' and crush my moment of heaven, I didn't make my post to be "King of the mountain" with Win 7 experience; I just wanted to give my thanks to all who have shared info about their experiences, which inturn, helped me immensely.
Also, I haven't had any BCC 6.05.1 issues either, and AVID FX 5.8, Sonic DVD 6.1 and Sonic Pro all load without a hint of a gremlin's wrench. . I am ecstatic to have joined, finally, the 64-bit world!
Well, good for you! And thanks for sharing the details, I'm sure Avid engineering will appreciate knowing. Let's hope you have smooth sailing ahead.
Two copies of Win 7 arrived in the mail today ... installing one now on my Avid xw8400. BTW, only $150 each at tigerdirect.com ....

It ran smoothly on my XW8400...hope you have the same results.
