I know Avid dosn't offically support Windows 7 yet - but I was courious if anyone has tried running MC with Windows 7?
Thanks,
Sam
I've been running the Release Candidate for the past few months now, and I have not had a problem. 64 bit version.
I had Media Composer version 3.5.4 and 4.0.2 runnuing under W7 Ultimate 64-bit Release Candidate for some weeks. Everything I used worked well. Initially, video display did not work correctly. However, this was automatically solved with Windows 7 update, which installed a later video driver.
In between, I have a clean installation of W7-Ultimate 64-bit, and installed MC 4.0.2. I did not excperience any trouble with Media Composer until now. All functions work well. Under the 64-bit OS, I have now 12 GB RAM available, which has increased the editing speed quite a lot.

P.S.
Agood friend pointed out, that my English was misleading in my statement on Windows 7. It should read:"I did not experience any trouble with Media Composer yet." Will say, that I have not identified any problem with MC runnning under W7.Joachim

Thanks for beta testing that :)

Just installed MC 3.2 on windows 7 64bit. Seemed to be working fine. Aero got turned off and Boris didn't install correctly.
How long is Avid's lag on new Operating Systems? I very close to pulling the trigger on a new system, and I'd really like to avoid the Vista upgrade hassle.
Should I just do the 7Pro 64 bit and ride it out?
I'm waiting to upgrade to Windows 7 since I keep reading about Dualview and multi-monitor problems with NVIDIA drivers and Windows 7 full release.
Unless someone can verify that dualview works in windows 7 (not RC) with a quadro fx card? If it is working, which driver?
Salud!
Windows 7 was officially released one week ago, we cannot expect Media Composer to work well on it already.
If you are doing important editing jobs on your system and not just are playing around, I would strongly suggest using a certified OS.

I can see no difference between installing a new certified 64 bits Vista system from a new disc or installing an uncertified 64 bits W7 system from a disc. you never install editing systems on updated OS, they should always be clean installs.

Well, I wouldn´t call that " working fine "

System specs and requirements
and, to go back to the initial questions and the topic in this thread, I did, about 6 months ago, most things worked even at that time but I wouldn´t take the chance of spending 40 hours or more on a very nice project just to find out in the end that I get render or export problems because of compliant probs with the OS.
But, that is me, I sometimes is a coward, or maybe it is the fact that I don´t want to spend another 40 hours to redo my project.
Vista started to work fine with editing applications the day SP1 was released, my guess is that this is what we should expect also from Windows 7 and at that time, Avid might have certified MC to be able to run with W 7

Yes I can. I have installed PNY Quadro FX 1700, and I run nvidia driver version 191.07 (downloaded from nvidia homepage). My two monitors are configured in dual view, and all runs well.
Nice! Now we are cooking with gas! Thank you, Joachim.
