Re: Third party software not compatible with dongle after upgrade

Not that this will solve the original poster's question but I have done some research and........

Version 6.1 of AvidDVD should work with either a dongle-activated or a software-activated Media Composer.

Version 6.0 will only work with a dongle-activated sytem.

6.0 works fine here with 3.1.3

I dont THINK it would work here either if I had not made atleast some of the paid upgrades after V1.6 when Avid DVD was not part of the package.  (Not sure when Avid DVD was added to my dongle but guessing either with the addition of Studio toolkit or MC 2.5 or 3.0 upgrades.)

I would be asking Avid support (or Marianna) having both my old and upgrade version numbers along with a current Dongle dump available.

Version 6.1 DOES work with dongle-activated MC - think of it this way - as of version 6.1, Avid DVD is activated via the internet connection, not the dongle. MC is activated either by the dongle or internet connection as of MC 3.5. The two activations are unrelated.

Version 6.1 DOES work with dongle-activated MC

Steve, Thank you for confirming that. Yes

I don't have either MC 3.5+ or AvidDVD 6.1, so I wanted to guard myself against any rash statements on my part. Geeked

6.1 will work as long as you activate it over the web. If your workstation has no network services installed and no internet connectivity (like a pro workstation should be set), you're out of luck, 'cause it seems there's no manual activation possible for 6.1

Re: Third party software not compatible with dongle after upgrade

I have MC 4.02 and AVID DVD 6.1 with the dongle. Software activation is not working on my end for AVID DVD 6.1, since everytime I try, it keeps getting an "Invalid product Key" when trying to activate it over the internet.  During instillation, I use teh key that is provided on teh CD sleeve.

I also did a web registration with Sonic and still the same problem. Sonic told  me, that since it's an AVID related product, I have to contact Avid.

    Just updating everyone...SAlud!
