Internet Explorer 8 has just been added as an important update on Windows Update, as we have seen probs on this forum with users having the beta version of IE 8 installed this might be taken as a little warning for those with internet connections on their editing machines and WU updating important stuff automatically, things might happen in the background that you might not like.

I noticed problems running my Xpress Pro with IE8. IE8 seemed to interfere with the Digidesign drivers (at least for me).
Removal of IE8 and reversion back to IE7 restored 100% stability and compatiblity.
In preparation for the Automatic Windows Update rollout of IE8, I put the necessary registry block on my system using information provided in the Microsoft IE8 Blocker Toolkit.
All is well here with tried-and-tested IE7 (though I use Firefox and Chrome for my surfing needs.)

I noticed this today, too, Tomas. My first thought was that IE8 might create problems for MC3 - Are you planning to experiment with it? I missed earlier posts by those having problems with the beta IE8. I'll do a site search and read-up on their problems. It always amazes me when Microsoft publishes an update like this and calls it 'critical' (actually, they call it 'important' and have it selected by default)...
Cheers
Steve

microsoft is pushing their new version of Internet Explorer (8) I recall a post (although I can't seem to find it with a forum search) about conflicts/problems with MC when a user tried the available Betaversion of IE8. Anyone tried IE8 yet?

Hi Steve, I will wait for some time before updating, everything is just working so amazingly well right now, I don´t want to touch anything.

Yes, I was into that thread and I think that I was the one that found the prob for the user the solution was to uninstall the beta version of IE 8 and roll back to IE 7
Hey All,
Just my 2 cents, but I'm running MC 3.5.1 on my xw8400 with IE 8 with no issue. I'm still on Xp pro though.
Salud!

We have seen too many users having probs with this update, sorry, only one that says " works for me " isn´t enough.
I am running some tests on a Vista 64 sys currently with auto update enabled, works so far but no guarantees until many more tests has been done.
I understand. I just added my situation just in case that something needed to be looked into further (beyond IE 8)- Salud!
Quick question all....

Hello,
I know I might be the monority since I use XP pro, but 3.5.1 and 3.5.4 have no issue on my machine with IE 8.
I haven't found IE 8 to cause any particular problems.

There are indeed problems!
One will bite you if you also use Pro Tools; a couple of the most important plug-ins will conflict with IE8, and cause ProTools to fail to load. The only solution is to scrap the plug-ins...usually. (There are reports of similar problems with other apps as well.)
Why not roll back to IE7 you ask?
Well, Microsoft has your butt in a wringer on this one if you loaded IE8 BEFORE upgrading to SP3. In this case, there is no provision to uninstall IE8 -- they will admit that it cannot be done for the purpose of back-reving unless you wind back to SP2 first...then uninstall IE8, then re-install SP3. However, as we all know, by the time we discover this problem, too much bit-water has flown under the CPU bridge, and going back to SP2 is impossible unless you wipe the drive and do a complete bare-metal reninstall of everything. (Or your last disk image, of course.)
The moral of the story is that if you have installed IE8 over SP2, ROLL IT BACK NOW. Don't upgrade until you have installed SP3, if then. IE8 has no reasonable advantage, anyway, and it just isn't worth the risk.
Children are our future...unless we stop them now!
I'm not having any problem with Win XP Pro SP3, IE8 and MC 3.1.3. So that is two of us...
You also have to consider that those who are not having problems generally will not post.

or, we could see it the other way, there were a lots of threads from those that had huge probs after updating to IE8 before this thread got pinned, we haven´t seen anyone with probs after that this post got pinned .
