Hi guys. Am fairly new to Avid xpress pro so forgive the newbie question I am editing a short which has been tk to full height 16:9 anamorphic. I have set my composite window to 16:9 and am obviously working on a widescreen monitor. However, i can't seem to get the footage to resize via the reformat option in the effects palette. The reformat effect simply squashes my image. The footage is S16mm tk to miniDVCAM.
This is probably a simple process but I can't seem to get my head around it.
Also am I wrong to build the project as a 50i project seen as the film is clearly 25fps??
many thanks
Alex

50i also allows an online on almost all Avids (my onliner is an MC1000XL)
25p also allows for 50i conform, since 25p sequences can be opened in 25i projects (even on Meridien).
P projects have less resolutions available
Not anymore. 3:1p, 2:1p and 1:1p are all available now, not just on Symphony (as was the case in the Meridien days).
Someone else may now a reason why 25p is preferable but I don't.
Any wipes and DVE-type moves will be animated in 25p rather than 50i. Plus you get the ability to do 24p outputs for film dubbings.
thanks guys, that helps.
