Crazy thought: I have a Samsung 47" wide monitor so my Timeline is pretty big. When I'm in the throes of editing I find myself mousing to the left, to the left, to the left when I need to click buttons on the Track Selector. And when I'm cutting sound and have 30 tracks going at once, eyeballing what track is what gets kind of squinty.
What if there was a way to put a Track Selector (or at least a representation of tracks) on the RIGHT SIDE of the Timeline to better facilitate this issue. I can't be the only editor with a giant wide screen.
I've illustrated below how it might look. Hopefully, it shows up!
Well, it doesn't look like my .png or .jpeg is showing up. If anyone knows the secret of uploading a picture let me know!
I've always mapped my track keys to keyboard shortcuts to try to avoid too much mouse clicking.
so... keys 1 to 0 mapped to V1 - V10 and Shift 1 to Shift 0 for A1 - A10.
However, with 30 tracks of audio there's not enough keyboard keys available without losing other valuable shortcuts.
One feature request I thought of was to use the numeric keypad for these higher-numbered tracks.
For example, holding SHIFT and quickly typing 20 would select video track 20 and CTRL/COMMAND 20 would select A20

Yeah, the interface for uploads is often a puzzle for me. It looks like you succeeded at least once before. Here's my refresher. Is there a better way? maybe.
The idea is to Log in, click on your handle, wait some time....when the screen finally shows your stuff, go all the way to the bottom and click on MY FILES, then CHOOSE FILE, then navigate to your local jpeg (not sure it accepts other formats, but I've previously posted .gifs that were acceptable when below some unspecified max file size, also zipped folders), then after you see your file name appear click ADD and wait a bit. I think you wait for the name of the file you chose will appear.
At that point, you can look again in your personal My Files to make sure the recent upload is actually there--- then you are almost done.
You go to the forums and in your post or reply click on the icon that looks like a filmstrip and click on BROWSE (not INSERT), files often take time to populate, when it does, select your file, but note:AVOID the button that says UPLOAD, if your jpeg is gigantic you can specify the size here, and instead you will use the right-side slider to travel all the way to the bottom of the Select Content box where you will see an OK Box. That should do it...maybe.
-Telegram!
Interesting, Bruno M! I may try a version of that. Once picture is locked I only need to choose audio tracks for editing, so maybe! Thank you.
Sorry, Telegram, I was replying with a thank you and an image, but it still won't appear. I see it in MY FILES, but am unable to make it happen. I'm in the middle of stuff now, but I'll try again later.
I appreciate your advice! Where'd it go?
You're welcome. I thought the workaround was wayTLDR, my nemesis. I think the upload section was ok, but needs some work. For one, I noticed that I wasn't getting the same blue high res hyper link that you got, above. I'll put that part back up iin a bit.
I support this idea. I think it would be super handy especially on those projects where you have way too many tracks to shortcut them all.
