I've got an editor testing out 2023.12 on macOS 13.6.4 before we start mass deploying it, since the upgrade hes getting a crash when closing a project bin after getting this error.
This has only started happening since his upgrade from 2023.3. Assuming this means some kind of attribute present in the bin is causing this but cant see it, any idea where I should be looking for it?
Exception: ATTR_INVALID_NAME: Custom metadata field is greater than 32 characters., name:WS_BLANK_PANEL_28645138771503227_DEC
I'm getting the same error on PC, 2023.12 and Windows 10. Nothing in my bin metadata matches that name, though. And it's weird that the text is so similar to yours. I suspect it's something Avid-related, not bin metadata-related.
I think this is referring to a column name. Open the show column dialog box and look for any really long column names probably toward the bottom. Were your bins originally created from an AAF, ALE or similar import?
Hey! Did anyone find a solution to this?
I am working on 2022.12.6 and my Editor was using 2023.12 at home and he was experiencing this with bins I sent him.
Alternatively, wondering whether anyone's logged this as a bug with Avid? There definitely weren't any long column names in the bins I was sending him.
Hi,
Can we also check if there was non-standard characters in the locator name. Then try to clear such character.
If the same issue happens shoot me an email and let's start a case so that the team can check on it.
My direct email is [email protected]
Thanks,
Ajay
