    Unable to open project bin

    Hi, I received this pop up message upon opening my project bin.

    The error states;

    Exception: DOMAIN_COPYOUT_FAILED

                    STRM_UNEXPECTED_TAG, GotillegalTag

    I tried starting a new project and copied my bins there, nothing worked. Even went over to the console command to repair the sequences. Nothing sufficed.

    Is there a way to fix this without losing all my progress?

    Re: Unable to open project bin

    Have you tried opening a backup copy of the bin from the Attic folder? Default behavior in Avid is to keep previous versions of every bin in the Attic folder.

    If you have not used the Attic before, copy a bin out (HD>Users>Shared>AvidMediaComposer>Avid Attic>Project>Bins) as you can't open a bin directly from the Attic.

    Yeah, managed to figure that out. I was able to open my previously saved bin. What caused this though? Just happened out of the blue.

    A computer crash or glitch during a save?

    I always tell my students to back up the whole project at least once a day.

    It takes seconds and means that they'll (at worst) lose a day's work.

    I remember quizzing a rep from a manufacturer about their drive warranty. He said he could offer one, perpetual guarantee - that hard disks will eventually fail and data will get corrupted!

    Do students take heed? - not always.

    Have I ripped off iMac screens to get to the internal hard drive to recover their projects? - yep!
