MC 2023.8 with Mac OS 14.1

Despite my preferences about not installing new software, my Mac Studio M1 Ultra installed OS 14.1 overnight.  I'm currenly running MC 2022.7.0 but can upgrade to 2023.8 if necessary.  I realize that OS 14.1 isn't yet approved for either of these MC versions.  MC 2022.7.0 still opens my projects in OS 14.1, but I wonder if there is trouble ahead.  Has anyone been using 14.1?  Or do I need to figure out how to go back to OS 12 or 13?  From what I've read, going back to an earlier OS is difficult.

We are testing this as I type and shoud be able to approve soon.  Some brave souls here have tried it and it seems to work ok....

I would stick with it and upgrade MC when we approve.

I noticed the update to 14.1.1 pushed out by Apple yesterday took care of at least two bugs: 1. there was an issue with how some dialogue boxes associated with AudioSuite tools were drawn on screen, causing them not to respond to mouse clicks; 2. when adjusting gain on a clip on the 'B' side, where there is a crossfade transition from clip on the 'A' side, the gain adjustment was applied to the 'A' side clip.

Both of these odd behaviors have vanished with the new X.X.1 update.

(Just want to mention that for your testing...)

Apple just released MacOS 14.1.1 just now.  I upgraded to Sonoma 14.0 in late September.  Back then I had no issues opening and closing MC or my last project after installing Sonoma 14.0.  I had worked on my last project before the upgrade but have not attempted to work on it since the upgrade.  I did not install 14.1 but 14.1.1. is out now.  If MC releases a version compatible with Sonoma, do you know what version of Sonoma it will be coimpatiable with?

just want to get on the thread of this as ventura hasn't been great. I've eliminated the entire black magic issue by just ditching the 4k mini. Still get instability on ventura using ndi however so really be nice to know if this gets resolved with sonoma.

    Hi Rouch,

How is avid working with Sonoma anyways? Are you using any i/o hardware like BM UltraStudio 4k mini? Any improvements on sonoma with that and the random crash behavior? Be curious to know your experience with it before upgrading once qualified to know if it is an improvement to Ventura.

    Thanks.

I am using it with 14.1. it's not great. Mainly it wouldn't even start without manually removing titler + from inside the package.

then blackmagic monitor mini also not so nice... so uninstalled it

Otherwise I am editing an show now on it 40 minutes, responsive everything. But one bug occurring often is when I leave the avid for a couple of minutes it wouldn't resume playback. Just jump to the beginning of the timeline and stop.

I know it's not supported. But have been able to work in the small environment. In the studio we still use the Intel Macs. But they also crash. So can't tell what's better really
