Hi everyone,

I have noticed an strange behavior with multicam groups.

Working with DNxHR LB (1920x1336) media in a project 1920 x 1080. I applied Frame Flex to all clips to size matches project raster. Works great. But when I created a multicamera group, a clip was resized more than what I have applied in the FrameFlex (looks like a zoom).

if I load the group in the Source Monitor the clip appears with the zoom. If I matched frame the group, the clip is loaded in the Source Monitor and it is ok. The sequence is ok too.

This happens only with some clips, nor with all. 

Any ideas why this is happening?

I believe this is because one of your group clips has a frameflex zoom and one doesn't.   As far as I remember, group clips can only have one frameflex format, so if you have two different formattings in the group one of the angles will be incorrectly formatted.

Maybe it's not even that, and just sucks at frameflex entirely?  

But, in anycase, if you edit from the "zoomed in clip" you will find it looks fine in your sequence I believe.  That's my memory.

In fact, both clips were applied with the same FrameFlex Setting: Size matches project raster. 

And making more tests, sometimes, the sequence is affected with the extra zoom too.

I created a cse in Avid so as soon as I have the final answer, I let you know but it seems that it is a bug

Justo to updated this case. Here is the answer fron Avid:

"The issue that you're getting is now confirmed as bug under MCCET-5133 bug number.

We will keep you updated when there is a news from our engineering."

I've found a workaround for this problem. I create a group using a timeline, so cam1 on track 1, cam2 on track 2 and so on but the tracks must begin at the same point, no filler at top of the sequence. At this point, right click and create group. I hope to help

I tried your workaround. It implies more steps to achieve the group without the strange behavior of the FrameFlex but it really works.

We discovered this is because the FrameFlex occurs after the multicam in the processing pipeline of Avid which is why its fine on the sequence. To get around this when transcoding proxies from bigger rasters to HD we burnt in the frameflex which then allowed the clips to scale correctly in the multicam

Yes great suggestion Idoc - I had exactly the same problem in 2022.10 and your workaround has fixed the problem for me too.
