Is anyone on PC using the MC Mouse setting shortcuts with a multi-button mouse? Is there a max limit within MC's settings interface?
My standard mouse with its two left-side buttons shows up in Mouse settings with a total of three addressable buttons: button 3 (scroll wheel click), plus button 4 and 5 (the side buttons) for a total of 9 available shortcuts when combined with Ctrl or Shift or Alt modifiers.

i dont know about the MC Mouse but the MX mouse from Logitech allows four button commands and two scrolling commands.
It has provision for individual programs (MC, Pro Tools, Premiere, etc) using the buttons for different tasks.
I just tried using it without the modifier commands (ie...Z instead of Ctrl Z)...it worked fine but, at least in the MX Mouse, you are limited to the keys you are trying to modify such as Z and its modifiers...so, Ctrl Z (UNDO), Z (LIFT), Shift Z (WHATEVER YOU ASSIGNED TO THE Z KEY IN YOUR SHIFT KEYBOARD, Alt+Z (LIFT AND PUT IN SOURCE MONITOR). It is also easy to add the modifier keys to the mouse and then use the keyboard for the key selection.
In the end, I decided having the Ctrl+Z function was more convenient than just a plain Z and it was put back...the other commands are:
Remove Effect (mapped to the F6 key)
Effect Editor (mapped to Shift+')
Go to Next and Previous Event mapped to the two scrolling commands
The middle scroll button was unchanged.
Happy mousing!
Thanks, but I am only looking for info on the max # of buttons MC provides for under Settings > Mouse; For example, I want to know if a mouse with say, 12 buttons, is then offered 10 buttons or less in MC Mouse settiings.
there's a Media Composer mouse setting? never tried it....everyday is a learning day
In answer to your question...the MX Mouse has four buttons but the MC Mouse commands only control 3 of them...the fourth is yet to be figured out...maybe the Logitech software will handle that...
pretty cool this MC mouse business....
Here is where this ended up.....8 AVID specific commands mapped to the MC Mouse buttons.
Three commands mapped to the buttons MC Mouse does not control (Next/Previous Event to the two side scrolling buttons and Ctrl+Z mapped to the fourth button).....using the logitech software
BTW...maybe it is conflicting with the logitech softwre, but many commands did not work for me.....

Thanks for confirming that. 3 mouse buttons shown in a 3x3 display-- 3 available modifier boxes per button is what I see.

I had the mouse button mapped but I recently bouoght a logic G604 because I wanted to map other apps to the mouse. With the logic I can map 15 different functions and it has vertical and horizontal scroll.

I honestly cant remember all of my settings but I do know it let you apply the modifers giving you more available shortcuts. I used the middle click on the scroll wheel to do a add edit. With the logic I can map up to 15 different functions and it has vertical and horizontal scroll.
