With the advent of Monterrey, I had to give up the use of my dongle (which I've had for 20 years!). I find it incredibly frustrating that if I forget to deactivate my license on one system (let's say my studio computer), I can not force activate the software license elswehere (say at home). This means if I activate at home, I'd better be CERTAIN I deactivated it before returning to the office!
I REALLY think we need an online activation system (yes, I know it sort-of already is) that's flexible enough to deactivate licenses elsewhere (like every other software company), instead of getting the message "sorry, you're screwed b/c your license is already in use."
Thank you!
Hi,
You can do this now using the Avid Link app, or your My Avid page on their website:
https://my.avid.com/products/ManageDevices
If that's not working for you, send an email to Chris Bove ([email protected]) or Raff Condalor ([email protected]). They are Avid's customer advocates and can help you.

Important to note that this feature only works above a certain version of Avid Link, and I think Media Composer 2021.12
This is called remote deactivation and can be done via Avid Link on the system you'd like to activate.
I must be a total idiot, because I see nothing of the sort in AVID Link (latest version) OR anywhere on the website.
No you're not.
Does this help? https://community.avid.com/forums/p/204649/915907.aspx
I can send some screenshots when I'm next on my sys
Thanks, Philip!
I've seen that "Manage Devices" at the top for awhile, but on my systems, it takes me to what I would call a broken screen...
basically blank, and it says "No license found." I wonder if this is because I have perpetual licenses, as opposed to subscription-based?
Guess I'll have to reach out to Chris and get it sorted, but looking forward to this!
Best,
J
I too had to get rid of my dongle, now I have a Mac studio. I swap between this and a macbook pro, also on2022.4. Using avid link and MC2022.4, I only need to activate on the device I want to work on. I dont need to deactivate at all. Once the new device is activated, I also get an email to confirm. I can send pics if necessary

Ok, thanks! Must be a licensing database hang up I'll need to have Avid rectify. Best,
j
