Hi,
I have just installed 2022.4 on MacOS 12.3.1, and I have also created a new user profile.
When I delete any marker on a clip (linked or transcoded from linked) in the marker tools, MC instantly crashes.
I have linked footages created on a Canon camera (XF-AVC) which contain markers (Face detection). All markers appear in the marker window. When I hit the delete key to remove these markers on the linked footage, AMC 2022.4 crashes immediatley. I have tried the same process on the corresponding transcoded footages, with the same result. I have also added a new marker, and tried to remove it with the same result again.
I have created on new case.
[UPDATE] The issue has been reproduced and logged as "MCCET-4640: If you remove markers on a clip with Inspector tool open, you get endless Exception errors and break pads (force quit required)".
I'm curious if this is a "site wide" issue.
Do you find deleting markers crashes Media Composer on a new project?
Try rebuilding your site settings: https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/troubleshooting/en259893
Hi Philip,
Thanks for your help. I did not think about "site reset"...and it works!
I created a new user profile but with the "old" site setting. And it crashes every time I was deleting a marker in the marker tools. Following the reset of the site setting with the old user profile, it still does not work. But with a new user profile after site reset, it seems to work.
So I need now to rebuild ***again*** my user profile. Any reliable way to "import" old settings (at least keyboard shortcuts) or is it too risky/unreliable?
Thanks again for your time!
OK I tried to re-import some settings (BIN views, workspaces, keyboard) in the new user setting created after site reset, from the user settings created previously in 22.4 using "Larry's method" (https://community.avid.com/forums/p/107837/624885.aspx), and it crashes again. Perhaps something relating to workspaces prefs...
[UPDATE] I have re-imported everything except some personnal workspaces and it still works...so it is something related to my user created workspaces.
Glad to hear that this has been resolved.
I'm afraid there's no quick way to rebuild all your user/site settings. Media Composer 2022.4 does have a search tab in the command palette so remapping keyboard shortcuts is a lot easier.
I'm convinced your user/site settings corrupted themselves somehow.
I have done further tests and tried to narrow down the issue, and I believe that it does not relate to user settings.
Even with the newly created user setting after site reset, Media Composer crashes when Inspector tool and markers tool windows are both opened simultaneously and when the Inspector tool is populated with data of the clip containing the markers.Otherwise it is working fine, in particular when the inspector tool is closed or empty.
I see...
Could you create a support case? If support is able to reproduce this, they can report it to engineering.
https://www.avid.com/learn-and-support/contact-support
It is logged with case n° 04415284
Thanks!
