We have a "Bin Map" and a "Sequence Map", now what I'd like is a "UI Map".Why? Because there are just too many important tools with important names that are shown in a small-font either 90 degrees sideways, or shortened with ellipses (...) as well only viewable by mousing over to a spindown, and then once made visible, are too difficult to read due to font size, or are not in any particular order; or the active indicator is too small.
A "UI Map", for starters, could display-- in a user-definable font size-- the Names of Bins as they reside in particular named Bin Containers...and indicate generally where on the entire UI they are found; it could list/show which Bins are tabbed (perhaps in the same left-right order that they are currently positioned); the "UI Map" could show which Bins are Floating and as a subset-- which Bins are Floating-but-minimized and available at the Windows taskbar, (plus any Mac equivalent); I want to press one button and see a "UI Map" overlay with large, Click-able text, (like hyperlinks) that can disappear right after a choice is made. (through Settings) or brought back just where i left off.Perhaps take it a step further, include ALL tools and their Names in a creative graphical display showing which tools are docked or tabbed and to where on the screen(s). permit Tabbing FWD or REV; A "UI Map" could be a virtual shortcut to anything on the UI that has a Name, which may or may not have been obscured behind a floating bin or tool. Navigate all items shown by keyboard or mouse.
Make it fun, not just another box to dock. More like a Site Map overlay, but larger and most of all-- easier to read and click-able, tab-able. Maybe even use COLOR to indicate Active tools, Bins.Perhaps show "Recently Closed" bins; perhaps show and offer links to containing Folders if used. Please consider in 2022!

Hi,
This sounds like an interesting one -- and definitely like something you've been thinking about quite a bit. (And kind of a fun one too.) I'll definitely log it as a feature request. Actually I'll probably log it as a few feature requests (the "sum of its parts" philosophy). This way, when the team gets it from me, they can fully understand the concept and brainstorm it.
While I do so, would you mind a couple of questions?
- What kind of computer are you currently using?
- How many monitors do you typically use?
- Do you ever hop back and forth between a single-monitor computer and a dual-monitor one?
- Are you usually in a fully "paneled" UI setup, fully "floating" UI setup, or a hybrid of the two?
(These will help me as I write up the feature request. The more detail they get, the better.)
Thanks, as always, for thinking so much about workflows and how we can improve them.
