I have chosen an Arri Log-C color encoding setting for my footage. It looks as expected until I peform a trim mode edit then the footage appears in it's original Log state with no color then goes back to normal after exiting trim mode. Is there a way for it to retain it's color encoding settings? It's a little distracting. Thanks.

Yes - right-click on the Composer window while in trim mode and select 'Trim Mode Render On The Fly. You can also enable this in Trim Mode Settings.

Thanks that actually works now when I click on the trim mode but when I activate dynamic trimming with J or L the color returns to the original Log again during the operation. Also I noticed that when I look at multicam groups in a 4 up view or drag a clip in the timeline they are all previewing in Log as well. Am I missing something or is it just best practice to bake in a lut during edit?

I don't think there's a 100% solution for these situations other than burning in the Colour Adapters.

You could leave the clips in Log mode and use the Colour LUT effect on a track to apply the colour adapter in the sequence instead. But then all your sources would look loggy in the source monitor...

FWIW, my workflow is generally to burn the Colour Adapters into my 'proxy quality' media for editing, then relink to the originals after I've got the sequence edited. 

Thanks. Good to know. This seems like unusual behavior. Would this be considered a bug or would it fall under a feature request? The other NLEs that I've been working with (Premiere, Davinci, FCPX) all retain whatever LUT or color science is applied to the clip. Trimming and multicam preview do not affect how the clips are displayed. 

It's been this way for a while, so I think it's Feature Request territory.
